Nvidia ToySoldiers Demo

I had an nVidia card for two years, and I didn't even know they made demos. I feel like I missed out on something now.

Those things are huge! I'm on a pitiful 56k modem; is there any way to get those on a CD from nVidia?

Don't expect to get many of nVidias demos to work. They are as hardcoded towards nVidia cards as possible. Almost all OpenGL stuff they do use some sort of obscure OpenGL extensions which they probably added to their drivers just to be able to have something that no other company have which would cause it to only run on nVidia cards, which in turn would make people with other cards think their card is inferior ...
Their demos is about all applications who use most of their OpenGL extensions.

I tried this Toy Soldiers demo, but it suffered from horrible flickering and ghosting of the image. :(

Oh well, back to Radeon's Ark I suppose.. :D

the toy solderiers demo don't work for me either, Z-buffer issues. Grass has an illegal instruction in win2k?

But the nvidia Grove demo works perfectly its a T&L tree.

Heres a list of tranzmit demos that are pretty good (or at least work!):

2 thousand knights
Antimoney (1-bit colour! good)
dozen
Evolution
Explicit
Oberlethe
infiltrator (software 3d)
lithtech demo 1
not freeze
not mouth
orion
reaching
noir
VIP2 (good)
Fate
all demos in the radeon SDK!

NVidia ToySoldier demo worked perfectly for me. Yep, it was pretty cool watching the camera pan around and around without any stuttering. All the while, listening to that triumphant soldier sound and watching that one floating head leave trails across the screen. I was awed at how that one floating head could represent such an advancement in technology. That we are capable of rendering a whole floating head, with trails even!, just blows my mind.

I gotta hand it to NVidia for producing one helluv'a showpiece. That one demo alone just about demonstrated everything I wanted/needed to know about NVidia.

-"Make a move and the bunny gets it!"-

He's being sarcastic it wasn't working. there is suposed to be more than the top of a head.

I checked it on a geforce SDR, and there are lots of solders maching in column, and there is a drop down menu, where you can select between point, line, gouroud, and normal shading. There is a help/info button, and get this! a panic button. When you press the panic button the soldiers scatter and are chased around by a huge clockwork robot!

Its actually really good, but don't work on a radeon, and it doesn't even work on TNT's either.

About the kasparov, I downloaded it but I lost it to a corrupt zip, I forgot to download it again. I'll do it right now, sorry. :)
