What's the last movie you saw?

Coco (Pixar) 7.7/10 - Ending really pulled it up above from the standard fair. Its not that the front 3/4 was bad but sorta felt like I've seen this story before but then stuff didn't turn out like I expected!

Lightyear (Pixar) 6/10 - The cat was great and there was one good spot in the movie but the rest was pretty standard fare except the story became sort of a mess like most plots involving time end up being.

The Holdovers (Peacock/Theaters) 9/10. (Wiki page) I hope Da'Vine Joy Randolph wins best supporting actress for this, having watched her rise through the ranks in shows like People of Earth and High Fidelity.

The Marvels - 6.5/10

Way better than I was expecting it to be, especially given all the low scores and bitching around release. Was a perfectly enjoyable little marvel romp imho.

Everything Everwhere All at Once 7/10 - Gah what a psychedelic trip. I finally get the hot dog hands and the googly eyes and the black bagel references. Wish they didn't censor one particular fight with the plugs! Movie definitely won't be everyone's cup of tea and even I had to take a break between the two major parts but in the end I thought it was a fun ride despite the absurdity of some of the scenes!

Terrible movie…

Oh wai…

Deja vu…

Spaceman (2024 Netflix) 7/10 - Okay okay for a lot of you probably won't even make it all the way through the movie and I imagine the very few that do might think it's overly sentimental, fair enough (I mean the rating aggregators on this film are in the 5's). Sorta reminded me of Solaris in that its a very very slow burn and the "action" is mostly in the head but this movie doesn't do quite as well as Solaris (I saw the modern color version where the cinematography was terrific). Nice use of surround sound at the climax and the end credit song makes some use of it as well.

Dune part 2. I think the first part was actually slightly better tho I rate them the same. 6-10. Still same issue for me cutting out too much of the universe and now playing with the timeline and characters... some things were done well tho. Def shouldve been run on HBO as a minimum 10 but better 20 part series for book 1.

The new Road House, it's not the worst remake ever, but it is just another unnecessary remake that is worse than the original one.

I get why amazon went straight for streaming for this one.

After rewatching the original, I feel like I was too kind, the remake isn't garbage, but it is crazy just how much better the cheezy 80's plot in the original is, the pacing was way better, and they let some story beats breathe more, everything just moves too fast in the remake.

Oppenheimer - 7.5/10 not too bad, artistic, slick, Pugh's boobs, but honestly pretty shallow across the board. The nuke SUCKED big time and it dragged afterwards

Road House - 6.5/10 conor mcgregor is pretty good on screen but this is a fairly mid action movie with occasionally bad fight cgi / effects

The Beekeeper - 4/10 written by somebody that had their brain entirely removed and replaced with a hamster, not even statham's okay effort can make up for the narrative.
