AMD Surprises At CES 2019

Just another Troll
"It was a triumphant return to the big stage in Las Vegas for AMD. The company’s Radeon VII announcement was totally stealthy—a masterful stroke that shows that things are about to get really interesting competitively- if AMD can deliver in volume. The 3rd Gen Ryzen desktop processor appears sets a new standard for performance and efficiency, and the 2nd Gen Ryzen mobile processor, if the battery measurements are true in the real world, could be a real gamechanger for notebooks. Rome is a harbinger of good things to come for EPYC and AMD’s datacenter efforts. Nice work, AMD."

what happened to Navi? Did they scrap it?

E3 release is the rumor right now. But rumor again is its a Polaris upgrade and not a Vega II Upgrade which would make sense since release Vega now, 3 months later release Navi II to cannibalize sales of Vega II?

Vega II = High End ( For AMD )
Navi = Lower Power Great Value

I suspect Vega II is just a placeholder so AMD can tell stockholders they have *something* to compete with NVIDIA's high end this year. Card availability won't be great as these are just salvaged dies that would otherwise be sold as far more profitable Radeon Instinct MI50 accelerators.

There is supposed to be a high-end version of Navi but we probably won't be see them until 2020/2021. So that is a long way...
