ATI GPU Folding not at full capacity captain

My 4850 is only running at 60-75% when folding and I can't figure out why. I'm on v7.1.43; and I have my Q6600 set to SMP 3 so a core is free for the GPU folding (sorta necessary w/ATI cards).

Anyway with the prior versions of V7 I used to get 98-100%. I'm on catalyst 12.2 drivers, just updated those last night from 11.8 or something hoping that would help - but it's still not running at full activity.

Any suggestions? Do you think I should try going back to a prior version of V7?

Hmmm... i don't think it's the client then. I'm running both .48 and .50 on multiple machines with ATI cards and i'm not seeing that issue.

Reading your first post again, did the issue occur after upgrading to 12.2 or is that what you tried first to fix the issue?

Also just for kicks have you paused the SMP portion to see if the GPU kicks back up?

ALso u don't have any flash vid windows open do you? An example would be youtube.

And last but not least, if you pull up the task manager there's no other rouge process's eating CPU time that shouldn't?

I was on 11.8 and had the problem, so I updated to 12.2 to see if different drivers would help.

No flash items open. CPU time via the task manager shows what it should; basically 3 cores running SMP and 1 left unused to help handle the GPU. I haven't tried pausing the SMP client... I'll try that tonight. Thanks void

thats so odd man.... I don't really know enough about the GPU folding process to be much more help at this point.

Just odd that it started all the sudden though.

Only other thing i could suggest is a clean sweep of the drivers and reinstall, or if you've got the time and a spare HD just for kicks reinstall windows and test. Seems a bit extreme though, but i honestly dont know what could be wrong.
