Best way to start off in GT3?

For those of you that have this great game...how did you start off? I get to the FF challenge and the other cars leave me behind, no matter what options I install. I have tried four different cars to no avail...:confused:

This is actually my first gran turismo game...

I have heard that if you get all golds in the license dept. (b and A) you will start off with a RX8...sweet, but damn, I can only get silvers and a few golds....help!:eek:
 
I started off with the Miata...then keep playing the first set of tracks over and over again. Eventually I earned alot of money, got me a turbo, and started winning easily. Before I sold my Miata it had around 400 hp, top speed of around 210, and did the 1/4 mile in about 12 seconds.

I eventually bought a Honda Integra Type R, got mad money, and upped the hp to 490. Then I bought A Skyline R34 and earned alot of money to bring the hp to a insane 1074.

Thats pretty much all I did in 5 days since it was a rented game. :(
 
Also it isnt a bad idea to get an easy 4000 credits by selling some bonus cars before you drive then (driving them brings down the value).
 
here's what i did

Got a miata, got cash by racing in beginner, i upgraded parts of it, first and formost is the turbo like always.
Completed a few races, then did a race with 2000$ prize like 15 times, until i got the cash to buy a mitsubishi evo VII. Maxed that car, completed about half of the beginner. Then got a nissan skyline GTR VspecII. Maxed it again, made ¾ of that mode and some ammateur. Then bough a viper GTS and made more cash.
Now im in rally mode with some kickass cars, trying to get all golds to get the suzuki escudo, which is one badass car for speed. Got about 250k cash right now, 21% complete.
 
OK...here is what I have done so far...

I did the super speedway thirty times and bought the Mustang Cobra R and have entered in as many races that I can with that car mand won as much money as I could while also upgrading the hp to some 500. I have also upgraded the suspension, tires and brakes too. I have won six cars and am getting ready to enter the weird events that specify spiders, ff, turbo, etc. Now things are moving fast!
 
The test track on the turbo cuircuit is a very easy was to earn money. 5,000 for 2 laps. Once you get that 80,000 credit turbo, nothing can pretty much stop you. Just make sure you get a racing transmition.
 
hehe. i decided to start over, i have 1 hell of a tricked out Toyota Celica.. 400 horsepower, racing transmission, intake cooler/racing, etc, etc. unfortunately, when i installed the new racing transmission my speed maxed at 132 but i had 6 gears.. before i installed it i maxed at 160. I screwed up somewhere, but i dont mind starting over in that game, just awesome stuff! :D
 
Shady, u had to ge the most expensive transmition to be able to change the gear ratios. The wider the gear ratios the faster you can go. I bet you would have been about to hit 190+.
