Built a new PC

Definitely not splitting hairs, even if it's 10% or less, but that's fine. If your system does what you need it to do, then carry on

Also, to be clear I'm not bashing trying to get the most performance you can. I know people enjoy that pursuit and its a hobby all its own.

FWIW 4 x 8GB SR sticks will perform the same as 2 x 16GB DR sticks, at the same frequency and timings.

So as an upgrade, you could install another 2 x 8 GB sticks in your system for 32GB total [4x8] and achieve the same performance as a 32GB DR set [2x16].

Very true, though 4x sticks is the most stressful scenario for the IMC.

Yeah the price increase going from 16GB to 32GB is definitely reasonable, not too bad. Just checking Newegg looks like on average price delta is about 25-50% for double the capacity. But even still, skimming through benchmarks videos there seems to be no performance difference in any games. I don't see much point if there's no discernible difference for my use case. That's just me but yeah, I can see for future proofing might be worthwhile going with 32GB if you don't plan to upgrade for a long time.

Is this just your personal experience, or did you see articles/videos that did benchmarks showing this? Did you personally have the issue with 16GB, and when upgrading to 32GB the hitching went away?

I just played AC: Odyssey and it was smooth my whole playthrough. Didn't play the other games.
Personal experiences. I don’t need benchmarks as my computer is fast enough.
Yes, post upgrade the hitching went away. I am used to playing with fps counters on so I could see the frame rate drops even for a second or less. COD games are worst offenders imo especially when you crank everything up.

Sounds like placebo to me but hey whatever. If you felt going to 32GB helped then that's good.

The only recent CoD I played was WWII and performance for me was excellent the whole way through with everything at max.

The 3080 came in yesterday as well as my Cablemod PSU cables. After getting things nice and tidy I tested a few games.

HUGE difference in games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Watchdog Legions with RTX/raytracing on. At higher resolution it is a night and day difference.

I was also happy to be able to utilize 4k@120hz with HDR and G-Sync on my LG CX.

Oh yeah, CP looks amazing with all RT enabled.

You guys don’t even know what stutter is.
