That sounds like it could be amazing.

Scientists working at Yale and the University of Rhode Island (URI) have discovered a new molecular cancer treatment that can home in on cancer cells and eradicate tumors in mice. The tests so far have proven to offer exceptionally grand results, and even a single dose was enough to destroy some of the most advanced tumors.

The new molecular cancer treatment relies on a specific molecule, which can seek out the acidic environments that surround cancer cells.

...

By using the molecule to guide the drug to the tumors and cancer cells, they’re able to kick them out of the “cold” tumor range and push the immune system to fight back. Then, they can use immune checkpoint inhibitors to effectively remove the natural brakes that keep the immune system from pushing too hard. This molecular cancer treatment lets the immune system fight cancer for longer periods.

...

When testing the molecular cancer treatment, the researchers coupled pHLIP to STING agonists and then treated 20 mice with colorectal tumors. They found that after a single injection, 18 of the mice saw their tumors disappear completely within a few days. In another group with larger tumors, they saw tumors vanish in seven out of 10 mice that received the treatment.

Over the decades, I keep hearing about major medical breakthroughs only for these "miracles" to vanish and nobody ever hears or talks about them again. While this news is interesting, until it sees real world use and becomes mainstream for treatment, I'll wait dubiously.

I came to post this.

How many times have we been around this block ? I have lost track.

Pardon me, I will henceforth refrain from keeping people informed of what's going on in the world. Lesson learned.

I hope you’ll keep posting news like this. I may not comment on it much, but I would like to think that one day, other families won’t have to deal with this monster like my family and others here have had to.

Just because you've "heard it before" doesn't mean it's not significant. The issue is that many times, what works in other animals will not translate to humans. If it does, sometimes has horrendous side-effects.

Every time we figure out a new method/technique in laboratory experiments on rodents, we come closer to finding an answer for humans.

Much rather be informed of stuff like this rather than stuff that shows up on some local tv station's 5 o clock news. Carry on with constructive news, at least it will balance what destructive news shows up here in OT.

i can understand both "sides". As someone who had to deal with it it's always both encouraging to hear that they have found another way to (maybe) cure it and disencouraging to never hear about it again. That being said they've changed a lot when it comes to the treatment of cancer over the years. And yes, there's still hope that one day we'll be able to beat it.

I'm that jaded person who thinks a cure for cancer won't materialize unless it makes more money than the current way we treat cancer.

It's interesting, don't stop posting these things because we humans need hope. We need to think tomorrow can/will be better.

i watched my father go thru his last 3 years on kidney dialysis and it's the same
kidney dialysis is a big money maker
but i think McCoy was right it's the dark ages

no dude. It was not meant as stop posting. Sorry if it came off like that.

I was just saying I have read these amazing cancer treatments for years in the news etc... but nothing ever comes from it.

It would be amazing if we could treat/cure cancer.
