Done with Samsung just bought an iPhone

Also gave up on Android devices and went iPhone a half year ago.

Mostly got tired of watching Apple announce OS updates, and then watching everyone get the newest features and enhancements 6 months later. On the Android side, you buy a Samsung phone and if you want the latest version of Google well **** you.

That and I got tired of carrying around multiple chargers for the different phones in the house. Just get an iPhone and everyone uses the same chargers or cables. Done. Easy.

What was your last android phone?
Everything I've ever had has been either Mini USB or USB C. (Everything is USB C these days, even mac books. Except Iphones, for...some reason).

My Note 9 still gets security updates, although no new feature updates. (New security update rolling out now actually).

A lot of what I'm hearing complaints about Android in this thread hasn't been true in at least 5 or 6 years. And I'm free of Apples walled garden. (My wife uses iPhones, so I'm still up to date on them. Shoot, she has the iphone 13 Pro max and I don't see any reason to want that over my Note 9, I have more features than she does outside of Face ID.

I wish that was the case. MacBook? USB-C. iPad? USB-C. iPhone? Lightning. WHY

They're moving to USB-C it seems for iPhone's now too. Most Androids have been USB-C for some time as well..

I gave myself 2 years with the 12pro and IOS and I can't wait to get back to Android. Looking at the 22ultra currently.

..until you used iPhone for a while and miss Samsung. :bleh:

I've been using the iPhone for two years straight now, and it's not perfect either. iPhone 12 Pro Max was absolute trash (yellowish screen, slow UI) until updates half a year in fixed the issues. The iPhone 13 Pro is the one the best phones I've ever used, but it also has its issues. Due to its superb battery life, Apple had to make it thicker and heavier. Feels "unbalanced" on the hand and without a proper grippy case, it easily slips off my hands. And at that, it's not nearly as comfortable to hold than previous lighter+thinner 6.1" iPhones.

Needless to say, I am looking forward to what Samsung is coming up with next year. No way am I getting an iPhone 14 when it's the same design again this year.

Qualcomm is going to release snapdragon 8 gen1+ soon. I wonder if Samsung would switch. Samsung 4nm sucks.:bleh:

Maybe I should wait till the next releases.

It seems all the latest phones have mixed reviews and issues more than usual.

The S22 Ultra is sure tempting, but enjoying *not* paying for a phone right now.
Note 9 has been paid off for awhile. Goal is to wait until my wife's iPhone 13 is paid off before I upgrade. (which would mean 5 years out of the note 9...it's still a great phone).

Is kinda amazing how far photography has come with these phones though. My Note 9 could capture images in the dark where my wifes iPhone 8 Pro would see only black. Last night her iPhone 13 Pro Max took a picture where my note 9 only saw black.

Phones see better in the dark than we do at this point, haha (at least with a 10 second exposure)

The S22 Ultra is an incredible device.
No way would I pick an iPhone over it, under any circumstance whatsoever.

Just picked up an S22U 256GB. Ordered April 25th. Arrived May 24th. (yes, 1 month delay)

Paid about $700 all in after the discounts.

(Note 10+ manufacturing defect, glass cracked without any impact, in my hand, under a tempered glass screen protector that had been on it since day 1, Whitestone Domeglass. Replaced the body with a new Samsung Service Kit OEM body I bought in February 2020, sent the defective body to Samsung and got the credit for that. lol) They wanted the old body to determine why it failed.

Samsung got back to me in mid-May- said it was a defective adhesive application that caused "undue stress" as the adhesive dried and became hard over time. There are reports of it happening to other Note10+ users also. Either way, Samsung CS did me good and they kept a long term customer happy. (Note 5 to the Note10+ and now to the S22U)

I suppose you've got the Qualcomm chip not the Exynos crap they foist on the rest of the world which is pure crap. Just go onto Sammobile to see how many complaints there are for this Soc. Absolute Junk. I've not had a single day I regretted my iPhone 13 pro purchase over the S22 (I owned the S21). It is what it is.

I you likely won't. There is nothing "wrong" per say with an iPhone it's just different.

Oh and don't forget to move your icons into positions that best suites you/your handedness :D

Using an iphone13 pro max right now. Coming from android couple complaints.

Having to swipe up to access the phone even after faceid has unlocked it.
Desktop apps and icons are locked in a grid and it is not possible to move things to your spot of choice.

The latter is particularly surprising since I would've thought Apple allowed such basic customization.

Er, pretty sure you figured it out by now but long press on any icon to pop up a menu and then choose Edit Homescreen to make them all wiggle and start moving stuff around. That being said I find it too easy to accidentally "drop" an icon on top of another to create a grouping and too hard to move one to the side of the screen to get it to another page. Still not something you mess with often once you got everything the way you want it, though it was a pain when they introduced widgets and I was experimenting lots. I love the battery widget with the huge % number that I turned % off on the default mini icon since I never look at that anymore.

Nah I knew how to do that.

What you cannot do is take one of those icons and drag it off to a corner or somewhere else on the screen. Try it. Won't let you do it.

Really dumb that the UI is limited in this way.
