Dual Adapters? How do I add AIW Pro PCI card to Shuttle XPC ST62K?

Hi:

Does anyone know how to install a PCI graphics card into the Shuttle XPC ST62K and have dual display adapters, using the on-board IGP 9100 plus the add-in card? Which one has to be primary and which one secondary, and what should the BIOS settings be?

I've tried with an old AIW Pro card, but I can't get it to recognize the card - error message is "code 10 this device cannot start". If I set the BIOS to initialize the PCI card first, then I can get the card to work but can't get the on-board IGP 9100 adapter to be recognized.

Thanks, ..Roger

I'm sorry to say that's the probably the only way you're gonna get that PCI card working. I've never successfully seen someone get an integrated AGP adapter working with a PCI card at the same time. If you want dual displays on that computer your best bet is to either find a PCI card with dual heads, or get 2 PCI cards. That's all assuming you don't have an AGP port. If you do have an AGP port, then just buy one of the many dual head AGP cards available.

Ok, thanks. I was more interested in just using the TV Tuner part of the AIW, so that is why I was interested in installing the old AIW. I can do without dual display. As an aside, the ST62K does have both VGA and S-Video via the on-board IGP 9100. I can switch between them but can't get dual simultaneously.

The ST62K does not have an AGP slot. It is an amazingly quiet SFF PC by using an external brick power supply. The power supply though is not powerful enough for an add-in AGP, and Shuttle elected to put a PCI slot only.

I'll probably just buy a TV Wonder then and install that for my TV Tuner.

Thx, ..Roger

That's a much better idea, pick up an ATI TV Wonder or Hauppauge WinTV card. That way you can continue to use the integrated 9100 AGP.
