Galaxy S21

Just got the regular S21 with 256GB storage. So far so good but I'm gonna miss the S8 with the Oculus Gear VR (doesn't work with the S21. Fits, but no function).

What's weird is if I load up a YouTube video and turn VR on I could actually watch in VR mode with the S21 in the headset (just can't control anything with it).

Wondering if someone has figured out how to make the Oculus VR portal work on the new S21....

i wouldn't bet on it

The Galaxy S20 Series will be unable to support Gear VR due to the termination of a partnership with Oculus that provides software for Gear VR. We will keep you updated if there's any changes related to VR services in the near future as we commit to provide you the best possible mobile experience.

If they dropped it for the 20 series, i doubt they'll change that for the 21

Got mine 2 months ago, it's a S21 Ultra 128GB with the Exynos processor (no Snapdragon available in Peru).

So far I love it, it's insanely fast, the screen is superb and the battery last a lot. Also, the camera is great.

Nice! Samsung phones always have great cameras...I frequently get comments on the quality of pics taken by my S21 (mine's the standard one).

Got myself an S21 128GB. Very happy with it.

Coming from a '17 Motorola Moto G5 Plus, that shouldn't surprise anyone.

Android 12 landed on my S21 Ultra today.

so far so good, seems a bit faster, more polished. The camera software looks better.

I was on the beta programme in the UK so I've had UI 4.0 (Android 12) for a while. As I'm on the Samsung upgrade programme I'll most likely pick up the S22 on launch day. Might go for the plus version this time around.

I'm asking Samsung locally if there's going to be a replacement program, no news so far.

So, I asked Samsung about the upgrade program to upgrade my S21 Ultra to S22 Ultra. It turns out, they only give me around $700 for my phone and the new one is around $1700.

So, no thanks, will still use mine that's working fine... :bleh:

Samsung ....

$1700?? Wtf.

I can't even stomach the $1200 they are asking MSRP for the S22. These prices are atrocious.

with the new exchange rate, it's around ~$1620.

The S21 Ultra one year ago, including a Galaxy Active 2 smartwach was around $1350 delivered.

As I've earlier posted used to own a S21 but after numerous issues with Samsung I decided to buy the iPhone 13 Pro. Had it a week now and I have to say it's great. OK it takes time to get used to face ID instead of fingerprint scanner but I'm getting there. It doesn't fast charge but at the same time it holds battery life miles more than S21 so not a big deal.

There's no apps I can't get on the iPhone that I had on the S21 so that's good but it doesn't work on my Galaxy Watch 4 (Wear OS) but it works flawlessly on my Galaxy Watch 3 (Tizen). So I sold my GW4 and just went back to GW3 which I prefer anyway. I think Wear OS is pants because Google are involved. Samsung should have just stayed on Tizen personally. No other watches support it.

The support between Apple and Samsung is like night and day. Samsung are awful I'm not going to buy anything else off them they're so bad. Apple on the other hand were immaculate, kept me up to date on my delivery and offered an expert to set up my iPhone. Samsung nothing. Samsung need to learn a thing or two especially outsourcing their customer services to the Philippines

Apple has no official presence here, only across third parties. Also their hardware is insanely expensive, the 13 Pro Max is around S/ 7500 (~$2000), so, no thanks... :nope:

LordHawkwind... I swear, you always get the worst customer experiences lol

Tell me  I couldn't make up the farce I had with Samsung it was so bad. Google it I'm not the only one and by all accounts reading a lot of posts on the Samsung community the S22 Ultra (first one released) has major issues with the AMD/Exynos chip and loads are returning them. Maybe I dodged a bullet there.

Don't forget we appear to be 2nd class citizens in Europe as we get the crappy Exynos SOC where good old USA gets a Qualcomm chip. At least with Apple we get the same SOC as everyone else.

I'm impressed with the iPhone 13 Pro. It does what it says and does it well. Carplay is vastly superior to Android Auto which was awful. Absolutely glad I left Samsung and Android TBH. No regrets.

How is Carplay better than Android Auto? I've had the completely opposite experience - Android Auto works better.

Didn't really feel like making a new thread, so I'll hijack this one. Discounts are already coming in hot and heavy on S22s. ATT is offering $800 off any trade in towards S22 line.

I just traded in my S20+ for a S22 Ultra for $11/mo for 36 months. So $396? I'd pay if off next month, but they are smart in dispersing it via statement credits spread across 36 months.

Wife traded in her S20 FE 5G for a S22+ for $3.96/mo for 36 months so $143?

Here's the funny part though, if you have ATT Wireless and ATT Fiber (I do) you get 20% off your wireless plan bill. So you get 20% off the phone amount aswell.

We just ditched Verizon for ATT BYOD because their unlimited plans are extremely reasonable. $56/line for unlimited 5G with 40GB hotspot/line (we use this alot with the kids fire tablets).

Can't beat getting $1600 for two phones over 2 years old.
