iPhone X or Samsung S9

I know 3 people who bought the X. 2 have returned it and bought android, 1 a pixel I think, the other an S8.

The 3rd still has his, but always complains about it - more the OS than the hardware.

I switched some months ago from Apple to Android, Essential PH1 - and haven't ever felt the urge to look back. Android has come a long, long way. The only reason I don't have an S9 right now is several S9 owners have told me it wouldn't be much of an upgrade over the PH1, but for the camera that is. Sammy's got a sweet camera...

edit: Coming from the 6+ fwiw...

I am thinking of replacing my iPhone 6, what do you think should I get? iPhone X or Samsung S9?

Do you like the notch on the iphone x?
Do you want a fingerprint sensor?

I think the best thing to do is go to a store and try both phones.

if you plan on using carplay or android auto

go with android auto

carplay looks a little nicer and iTunes is better than google play music
but the iphones drop out and you have to unplug it and plug it back in with the iPhones 3 or 4 times a hour or more

had to do the same with my note8 about 3 times in 5 months

I think it is the damm lightning port just does not like vibration in a car and the usb-c plug locks in a lot better

and google maps is 10x better than apple maps

I don't think iTunes is better than Google Play Music at all. iTunes is the thing I miss least on iPhone.

the on phone app not the pc iTunes program
maybe it's the apple music app I just call it all iTunes

the Google Play Music app can't even show 90% of my album art
but Double Twist Pro does on the same 105gb cd rips library so the data is there
nor can I edit metadata in app and I'm not paying 10 bucks a month to edit it online :bleh:

If you're stuck with the iOS platform, go with iPhone X. Just got it a week ago and I can't believe I didn't pick it over the iPhone 8 (which died on me). Gesture controls is actually highly refreshing. Screen is much better and battery life is slightly (10%?) improved compared to my iPhone 8.

Judging by today's standards, the bezels of the S9 is simply looking gigantic in the Android world. Still not a bad phone by any means (pictures are among the best compared to other Android flagships released this year) but UI fluidity still isn't the best. If rumors of the Galaxy S10 is real however I'd recommend you wait for that. Nearly bezel-less, in-screen fingerprint scanner, triple camera, and 3D face scanning, etc.. it's certainly looking like an absolute beast.

s9 bezel is gigantic? uhh.. you sure you're looking at the same phone as me?

it has less bezel than my iphone 8+ . only phone i see really killing it in bezel department is the iphone x which is priced for people who dont really care about their money

:hmm: Wait, what? You're either under a total misapprehension or have been struck by the RDF.

Screen-to-body ratios (all values in percentages)

Oppo Find X = 86.9

Vivo Nex = 86.2

Essential PH-1 = 84.9

S9, S9+, Note 8 = 83.6, 84.2, and 83.2

OnePlus 6 = 83.8

Asus Zenfone 5 and 5Z = 83.6

Xiaomi Mi Mix = 83.6

iPhone X = 82.9

LG G7 ThinQ = 82.6

Huawei P20 Pro = 82.0

In all cases, Samsung's latest flagships have a smaller bezel to body ratio than the iPhone X and also compare favorably against most of the other "bezel-less" Android flagships.

In terms of fluidity, I have the Note 8, and maybe its the latest UI updates Samsung have made or the fact that it packs a ton of RAM (same with the S9+), but i have had 0 issues with slowdowns, hiccups, or otherwise -- a better experience from that perspective than say the iPhone X which is prone to bugginess depending on which iOS update youre sporting.
