IS WINDOWS PRO Worth it

I been running windows 7 for a long time ,I did not like windows 8 ,but windows 10 looks a little better plus I can upgrade for free. The people that has went to windows 10,how do you like it.

Pro did not add anything I needed, so running Home here and all is good so far.

May end up putting Classic Shell on it soon cause the tablet/phone vib is still too strong I feel. I want a Desktop UI, not tablet leftovers.

on computers where the manufacturer actually supports the windows \ have updated drivers, its actually awesome, I like it way more than any other windows version.

However when there isn't official support, oh my... its nothing but pain.

If vista was slow, 8 had UI design disagreement, 10's issue is not itself, its 3rd party drivers and draconian policies (nothing like being forceupdated on a non-supported device, right?)

But overall its a good OS, just stick with stuff that have drivers.

p.s.
whats up with MSI releasing a computer in 2012 and never updating the drivers, the way win 8 work is by chance (since 7 drivers work okay'ish on 8) and 10? nope, no support. (I mean, who needs GPU or WIFI, right?) ...

I love it, honestly.

I personally always buy the Pro level Windows because I need the Remote Desktop features for work.

I think it's worth it.
Pro has extras like...
Back up - It basic but I hope it works. I don't feel like buying Acronis small yearly upgrades. They only release like one patch for each yearly ED. It's BS.
Group policy editor - You can set windows update notify to download instead of it doing it for you and nag to restart. There's a lot useful options for you to set without the need to play with the registry editor.
Client Hyper-V - You can use it to experiment with different OS. I install Win XP to play with all the shady software I DL over the years.:bleh:

New MS policy is that all Win10 drivers have to come through MS certification. Probably MSI can't be bothered to pay and dedicate the time to getting updated drivers for old hardware.

There was probably a build date window where you could find drivers that would run on Windows 10 even though not MS qualified and signed.

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/windows_har.../01/driver-signing-changes-in-windows-10.aspx

Beginning with the release of Windows 10, all new Windows 10 kernel mode drivers must be submitted to and digitally signed by the Windows Hardware Developer Center Dashboard portal. Windows 10 will not load new kernel mode drivers which are not signed by the portal.

...

What about existing drivers? Do I need to re-sign these drivers to get them to work with Windows 10?

No, existing drivers do not need to be re-signed. To ensure backwards compatibility, drivers which are properly signed by a valid cross-signing certificate that was issued before the release of Windows 10 will continue to pass signing checks on Windows 10.

In a nutshell, blame Microsoft.

I personally love Windows 10. Windows 7 was great but after 6 years it was time to upgrade and Windows 10 was free so why not?

As far as Pro vs Home, if you want BitLocker (enrcyption) then get Pro. Otherwise Home should be fine.

I used Win7 Ultimate x64 for years and years. Completely skipped Win8. Upgraded recently (free to Pro) to Win10 and after getting used to some changes, love it. I would totally use Bitlocker if my hardware supported it - I don't want the perf hit from running it in software.

I need to use PRO just because of remote desktop - however I could have managed with some free 3d party remote desktop sharing apps.

well I am sure windows10 home would have been fine for me ,but I had windows 7 pro so I got windows pro. so far I have had no problems with any driver that I needed.Windows 7 was great but it was getting some age on it .I looked at windows 8 ,but did not like it at all .When I reinstalled windows 7 and it said I qualified for a free upgrade to windows 10 I first thought ut was a scam ,because nothing from Microsoft useally comes free ,but had no troble installing and have it copied on a USB drive and it is already activated so clean installs should be easier now.

Not to mention if you get the latest ISO from Microsoft (build 1511) it will activate automatically with your Windows 7 or Windows 8 license key. No need to have a previous install.
