Nokia what?!

The really sad part is that they've already spent money on R&D and whatnot just for a piece of crud. Stupid companies these days

Yea, I do not think they can pull it off! Loki, however, seems optimistic?! Even though it is truly displaced.;)

I think you're missing something here. It's not primarily a gaming console, and not a direct competitor of the Xbox, Gamecube and PS2.

And the controller is obviously not a game controller, but a remote control device for accessing the "Media Terminal's" main functions.

It supports IR and USB gamepads.

Tech specs:

As you see it doesn't even have a good 3D accelerator (only 4MB video memory). So it's obvious that this isn't really a gaming console in the sense of Xbox or PS2.

Why even include the ability to play games, seems like this product might try to do to much and fail at all of em. I doubt that it will be as user friendly as the well tested Tivo or ReplayTV systems, and there is NO way it will play games as well as the Gamecube,X-Box, or PS2. You can buy a cool Turtle Beach unit for $200 at Best Buy right now that will connect to a network share via ethernet and provide access to your MP3s and playback through your stereo system. The cost won't be cheap for this thing. In order to handle digital media storage they are going to have to include a large hard drive and this means cost. Web browsing is pretty much useless at this point with standard TVs anyway. I believe that when HDTVs start to become more popular they will have broadband connections built in as well as an upgradable web browser. Convergence is coming, not very smart to be a guinea pig at this point.

sound like a better use for it would be for a digital cable box that plays Games (would be great if it also played DVD's), and gives access to the internet. if they can sell it to the cable companies then they may have a chance.

There not competing

There not competing

That Nokia thing isn't a games machine more of an information machine, Nokia is developing with Sony, cellphones to interact with PS2 and PS-One, and using CDMA technology they can get up to 2Mb/s upload/download
