Nvidia GPU Performance Craters When G-Sync, SLI Are Used Together

Read part of this article yesterday. I can say that since the 388 series, there has been issues with G-SYNC, with and without SLI. I know I had issues until nvidia fixed the issue with 1080's in the 398 series. AFAIK these issues don't exist on windows builds before the first Creator's Update.

My issue was specifically the framerate would randomly tank from whatever down to 25-30FPS in pretty much any game using the problem drivers. Alt-tabbing out and back in would always fix the framerate, but the problem would always return at some point.

I stuck with 385.69 for quite a long time before I updated. Currently running 399.24 without issus, but then again, not using SLI. Every time there's a new release, I always check the feedback thread seeing that the many G-SYNC issues have gone unresolved for over a year now.

Triple Buffering issues?

Anytime there are framerate issues related to frame sync'ing and which get fixed by alt-tabbing, it's triple-buffering related.

Alt-tabbing forces Windows's native triple-buffering onto the game.
