Nvidia to counter AMD’s Navi with refreshed 16Gbps Turing graphics cards

acroig

Just another Troll
"Nvidia is reportedly preparing to refresh its Turing range of graphics cards this year with a higher-spec version of the GDDR6 memory they started out with. Originally the RTX 20-series GPUs were paired up with Micron’s GDDR6 memory, with a peak speed of 14Gbps. There are some cards from Nvidia’s partners using GDDR6 sourced from Samsung’s fabs, but that’s still sporting 14Gbps video memory."

:hmm:
why ?

from all rumors Navi is nowhere close to a 2080 or 2080 ti more like a cheap 1080 or a little slower than a 1080 ti

I can say I won't be upgrading my 2080 ti for faster memory not at 1350 for a strix

maybe if it is PCIE 4 and has full HDMI 2.1 with 4k/120, VRR and Freesync over HDMI
and if they drop prices a bit like under 999 for the new strix

This allows them to keep the prices where they are without having to do any real changes to the card. I highly doubt prices will drop, if anything they’ll go up again closer to the original pricing for another 3-4 months.

maybe if they can

it might boost their stock prices ( that have been about 100 bucks a share down since the turing launch ) if they start selling a lot more RTX cards
and the only way they will sell a lot more cards at this point is cheaper prices

most of the people like me that needed it for 4k or had to have the fastest have already bought at this point

if they are really nice and let me SLI a new full HDMI 2.1 2080 ti with my old one might get me to buy a new one also

This isn't a refresh even if they change memory, which Nvidia has done before with the 1080. This is more like a clickbait article, especially with that sensational title. Like saying Chevy will release a refresh of the Corvette to counter the new Honda Civic. Two completely different performance and price segments, but hey let's get some clicks for my ad revenue.

still wouldn't mind HDMI 2.1 on a new card

been looking at 55 inch 4k Samsung's or LG's w/ VRR and or Freesync

40" is looking small
