Has anyone else experienced this problem, and if so, how have you solved it?
Problem:
I am running Half-Life v1.1.0.8 (I think!?), and the only OGL mode that works correctly for me is 640x480. If I try higher resolutions the screen output is displayed incorrectly while playing the game. D3D works correctly at any resolution. For instance, if I switch to OGL mode 1024x768, when I exit the menus and either start a new game or resume a current game, the game screen seems to get overlayed in a box onto the desktop screen, and it only uses the upper left 1/4 of my entire screen, the rest is my desktop and the icons showing.
It's not a "windowed" gaming session either, as there are no borders, minimize, or maximize buttons on this box. The game will run, but even within this small box which is only taking up a portion of my entire screen, I can only see 1/4 of what the entire game screen should be showing anyway. It's as if 3/4 of the game's screen has been cut away to show my desktop.
I've had problems with Unreal and OGL also, but was told it was because I used the Final226 patch to update that game instead of the 224 patch which seems to be more "OpenGL friendly". I did download and install another OGL patch I obtained from OldUnreal.com, it was specifically made for the Final226 edition, and it has enabled me to use 1024x768 resolution OGL with Unreal, but there seems to still be problems with it and my system, it runs, but at times the sky looks more like a quilted blanket with squarish sky patches instead of a more smooth and real looking sky, fog is gone in many places it should be, and there are also problems with shadows being shown incorrectly when inside, so it's back to using D3D again.
I am running Windows XP Pro and an AIW 8500DV with the 6015 official drivers, but had the same problems before this with the 3286 drivers and OpenGL also. My desktop is set to 1024x768x32 all the time. Any suggestions for me to try?
Thanks,
Craig
PS: Great new forum ... hats off to those running Rage3D !!!
