Portal RTX

Valve apparently had input into the redoing of the textures according to Digital Foundry. They should be considered "official," as such.
 
LoL if you scan the in game QR codes, all the cubes turn into 4090's..


So what the heck was peak ray tracing supposed to look like? I was watching that last portion of the video and still have no idea what ray tracing's "game changing" ability is.....
 
Most RTX remixes place lights beneath light sources instead of setting the surface of the bulb as an emissive surface. It's done for performance reasons. RTX remix does support emissive surfaces for what it's worth though.

I also think Portal RTX is limited to 4 bounces. Partly because that's what the 30xx series can accelerate. Dunno what the 40xx series can do.

So if he placed 5 boxes in front of each other, presumably things would look really weird.

Pretty sure he was joking about the boxes he spawned in and the lenses
