Yeah, since the RX 6900 XT is rarer than hensteeth (Common norwegian saying), we can at least enjoy a new driver on "launch" day of Navi 21 XTX.

Package Contents
  • The Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.12.1 installation package contains the following:

Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.12.1 Driver Version 20.45.01.18 (Windows Driver Store Version 27.20.14501.18008)

Doesnt sound like the big yearly package yet. Im a wait for the SR one if it comes. Really hoped they would have it for CP.

Have they stated anything like a big release? If i recall correctly, every year when there's been a big release they have some sort of information about it a couple of weeks before.

They've done it for some years now so its kind of expected. And with essential features missing like Super Resolution theres a need for one.

No bueno with these drivers.

Tried installing over 20.10.1 and they restart my rig. Redownloaded the package and tried again with a factory reset option and they restart my rig. DDU'd and tried fresh and they restart my rig. Tried again and they installed half way and restarted my rig now i have a broken install of 20.12.1 on my rig.

I just wanted to update so i can play Cyberpunk later tonight !__!

Yeah I'm staying away from these drivers can't even get them to install without the system rebooting prematurely and I've just spent the last hour and 15 minutes trying to get my system to boot again after all the driver installer reboots :\

Safe mode wouldn't even work and the startup repair troubleshooter became unresponsive every time i tried to click on system restore !__!

I just wanted to be ready for Cyberpunk y u hate me this time of year AMD !__!

After what you posted I'm staying away too thank you. Don't want Cyberpunk but they don't sound stable from your comments.

Update tiem

So after much progress and ripping my dick off 3 times I got er done.

Just finished installing 20.12.1 and the install took without rebooting my machine prematurely.

How I got here:

Had a coke and a smile and waited half an hour for my rig to boot after trying 4 times to work the windows start up repair

Windows finally boots so I log in notice I'm missing sound. The multiple reboots seem to have nuked part of my system into disrepair as steam complains about stuff in the registry being ****y with its system process..

Imaged the drive and restarted windows (safety first :3)....

Booted into system again yay it boots normally and as fast as it had been prior to trying 20.12.1

Fired up DDU in safe mode and nuked AMD drivers 3 times in a row just in case and cause I wanna watch the world burn becase for some reason when trying to factory reset via the "stable" 20.10.1 amd driver it did nussing and bits and pieces of 20.12.1 that were kinda installed remained on my system

System booted normally and as fast as it did before 20.12.1 install shenanigans

Downloaded Windows media creation toolkit and hucked it on my flash drive

Did an inplace upgrade of Windows 10 Pro 20H2 over my current 20H2

System booted and went through its whole spiel and now i have sound back it had installed a driver from late last year from windows update

Reinstalled steam via the exe so i can has my games back

DDU'd the shite out of the old ass driver windows had installed via safe mode and rebooted

Unplugged my ethernet cable

Downloaded a fresh copy of the 20.12.1 driver off my file server hucked it on usb and transferred it over and 480p'd my way through the install

SUCCESS! No reboots no restarts and no shenanigans

Sewed my dick back on....

Still gotta wait and hour for Cyberpunk to unlock !____!

Fun tiems in the Seys world today 10/10 would pass my time like this agian. Just one request next time you gais at AMD wanna help me pass the time rejiggering my rig and ripping my dick off make sure it lasts longer bby <3

I chalk it up to another Seyiji's bug just like last year since all is well now :D

Cas 14 at 3600 is not an easy oc. Might wanna loosen them timings a we bit or better yet goto 3200.

Or you can pay gobs for the new ram at gskill$$$$$$.

EDIT: Ah gahd math is hard! Your at 3200 ok you should be fine. Still loosen ein timings. Just to be sure. Mind you if its bdie it should do 3200 fine but if not bdie then ya even 3200 cas 14 is testy.

Just let you know that you don't have to download this new driver. Guess what? You can just play CP2077 with a bit old driver. It just worked fine. I'm still using 20.9.1 driver. No crashes on CP2077 for straight 2 hours of gameplay.

I won't be buying Cyberpunk or downloading new driver thank you.

Hoo lawdy this ones on ole sey.

You were right gai no other ways about it. My system totally hosed itself last night corrupted the whole shebang without much warning. Went down for a reboot and she never came back up the same way. Things looked fine and dandy but something just popped out like a prairie dog popping out of Treecks bhole.

Lost about 6 months of emails and bookmarks not that they were important but lucky sey I had me a backup from may that I pulled from to get the nuke and pave kick started.

Shoulda listened then I coulda been a contender...

Hopefully, as of this weekend I won't be downloading anymore AMD drivers for the next four years or so. A KFA2 3090 SG 24gb should see me through for that long. It's been a roller coaster with Fury, Vega 64 and Navi. Certainly never a dull moment but a new chapter now begins. Hope all your future updates are good.

My 5700XT is going to my son so I'll still have skin in the game
