I`ve read most of the reviews on the Radeon and seen this card rocks. I`ve been waiting for the V5,6000 but just too long to wait anymore. I have 2 Voodoo2`s and have the Radeon on order with buy.com. My sys is P600,256M PC100,matrox millinuem and older asus P2b motherboard. I play alot of flightsims and none of the reviews I`ve read give any frame rates or tell how it is on anything other than Quake or Unreal.I know its tough to get reliable FR out of games like this but anyone have any?? Does it look good on EECH or Janes F-18??Or maybe Rogue Spear??Or the frame rate killer of em all FS2000??Just wondering if any of you that have em could post some info on it. Also one last question, will I notice a night an day diff between the Radeon and my Voodoo2 SLI or is my cpu too slow to show it.Thanks

OK, the V3 3000 for example is about 2-3x faster than the V2 SLI.
The RADEON is about 2-3x faster than the V3 3000.

The V2 SLI is what 12mb each card so you have 24mb in SLI, RADEON is 64mb.
RADEON has a GPU, MANY features too many to list here.

This seems unfair of a comparison, but your post was RADEON64mb VS V2SLI
You can't use both cards at the same time, well you could but then you'd have to keep switching the monitor cable from your video cards.

I could go on forever here about why the RADEON is superior to the V2, but this isn't fair because the RADEON is like 3-4 years older than the V2.

If that isn't enough, RADEON MAXX is coming out soon which is basically RADEON "SLI" well say, because it is 2x the power really.

YES, you will notice a huge difference.
V2 isn't even 16-bit colour alone (SLI? dunno)

You forgot not that MDK2 is now a standard benchmark. The RADEON will just fly on those games because their old titles.
BTY: Your cpu is fine.

Hi,

I was using a Voodoo2 SLI combo with my GeForce DDR. That is until I upgraded to my new setup... for some reason the V2's didn't want to play anymore.

Anyway I'll tell you this... The ONLY time those V2's would seem fast to a newer card.. Is in a game with really crappy D3D or Open GL implementation. As in a 'glide' only game.

The best example I can think of would be Ultima IX. On my V2 SLI it was really smooth. On my GeForce DDR there are lots of pauses in movement. Even with a 700MHz cpu.

Most of the 'glide' games are now able to achieve playable frame rates on the newer cards tho. You could still use the V2's just like you are now. But using the pass thru cable can affect the quality of what you see especially at higher resolutions.

Also the Radeon will have playable frame rates in 32bit color. This is something that the Voodoo2's can't even do in any way. They do 16bit that's it... up to a max resolution of 1024x768.

So enjoy your Radeon...

I have just discovered that I can play UT at 1280x1024 with my V3 3000 AGP!!

With that in mind I have a habit of setting my games in that high-res too...hint-hint!

Thanks for posting to my questions. I will def be pulling my voodoo2 cards and my matrox for 2d. Man 3 cards suck, ran out of slots. Anyway when I finally get my radeon64 I will post some FPS for some flight sims. Cant complain about the voodoo`s though, good cards lasted a long time for me. Quality wast bad, just lower frame rates with some of the newer games. Hope this Radeon64 will make B172 rock when it comes out..........
