RW2 Range Questions

I've just recently gotten the RW2, which while I'm still working out the kinks is working quite well. Thanks to the sticky I've gotten the RW to load now, so thats a plus.

However, currently even with a USB extension cable moving the reciever about 8 feet from my computer, I'm still finding I have to point the RW directly at the receiver in order for it to pick it up. Which presents a problem when in the living room (through the other side of the wall from where the comp is), is that even going through one wall I understand it could cut down on range a bit. But i find that the RW is very picky in exactly where I point it.

I seems that without moving the remote it will pick up some signals like ch+/ch-.. then upon doing the same thing a second later, nothing.

Does anyone have any suggestions, I thought with the RF that signal was pretty omnidirectional, it seems that while I dont need line of sight I need an exact straight shot through no interfence to get to the receiver for it to pick up anything.

I just wandered around the house with mine to see. I can get about 25 feet away before it starts getting less omnidirectional. Pointing up works the best. This is through up to 3 walls.
My reciever is right beside my computer. When it was dangling behind the computer (oop :o ) my range was down to 12 feet and very fussy about direction.

Put it as high as possible without adding an extension to the USB cable and use fresh batteries. How far are you talking about?

It seems to have some "Bind Spots" . Yesterday, I was about 5 feet from the receiver and ponting directly at it and it wouldn't respond (no flicker on the receiving light on the receiver). If I moved my aim slightly to the right or to the left it would work.

Unless I have a faulty RWII, the RWI is much better.

It seems to work better when you point towards the ceilling and the back facing the receiver. It could be to reflections off the ceilling though.

2 steps back for ATI on this one!

Yeah I've actually got an RW1, although I haven't tested it (as it came with me new AIW 9800 pro).. and was thinking that the RWII would be better, stupid me I guess.

Currently my living room to my computer is through one wall and about 15-20 from reciever, other issue I'm finding is I've got an old 65" projection tv, non-hd, but it works, hehe. And the only thing I can think is since the receiver is mostly behind the tv (through that wall).. that maybe the tv is creating a lot of interference, or I have a bum RW2?

I'll try the RW1.. although I like the look and feel of the RW2 better.

I have noticed its better pointing towards the ceiling, its picky, definately picky.

Hey everyone...I've had similar issues as those mentioned above...The remote wonder 1 was much better with reception...my remote wonder 2 is very picky and unpredictable....could be two feet away and it won't pick up, change the angle slightly and your in business. been trying many different things, such as interference from my wireless keyboard/mouse combo, closeness to a speaker and closeness to my computer...still haven't figured out what it is..anwyay..wish i had'nt sold my old AIW and my old RW 1!!!!!

glad to know I'm not alone, and now Ati's releasing a remote wonder 'plus'.. great, like that will help.
