Sega Genesis Mini - September 19, 2019

Seems like Nintendo knows when to jump in and jump out...after the initial rush of NES and SNES mini's the mini console fad looks to have died out fairly quickly.

I wouldn't say its a fad. Its just that most people only seem to care about the official Nintendo stuff, with everything else being quite a niche market.

Case in point, I guarantee you that if Nintendo released a Nintendo 64 or Game Boy mini next it would fly off the shelves just like the NES and SNES mini did.

I totally want an n64 mini. Heck, there's only a dozen great games on it anyway, so they can easily fit the whole library of worth-playing games on it. Too bad it won't have any of the Rare stuff... so maybe there's only 6 worthwhile games they can put on it.

Believe it or not, I have 85 games in my n64 library. But I totally admit that most of those don't belong on the n64 mini.

I've got 73, and honestly hardly play any of them. The N64 simply has too many games of the same types of genres with not much that's interesting and unique. Its all racing and wrestling games lol, and a small handful of good Nintendo 1st party and Rare games. No doubt Nintendo's worst console library. That early 3d polygonal graphics doesn't help either.

So you have the entire n64 library then? :p

Actually I still have 22 games on my "to-buy" list. You can check out my spreadsheet here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1owNvh5Tc_P3Hl_MMjtyMSGOyqw12DJGR34hHK_bqA1U/edit?usp=sharing

Adding up the games I have plus the games I'm still looking for, comes out to 107. That's every n64 game that I find interesting for one reason or another. Wikipedia says there's ~300 n64 games total (released in N. America). That means I have virtually zero interest in 2/3 of the total library.

Pretty much zero interest in sports or wrestling games.
