Hi, I have this ATI RAGE IIC graphics card (I think) and when I try to play 3d games this error appears sying something about Direct3D not detected.
I have read the games read me files and all I needed was Direct X, that I have.

I have searched for this Direct 3D for quite some time but I can not find anything, also I have installed heaps of stuff from the CD that came with the card.

Can somebody please tell me what to do because I am so lost, and if I have this really old card please say so because I know nothing about hardware.
Pretty please, I can't play games

OK thanks a lot, I'm gonna get me a new card then.

:D

OH and the game is Championship manager 5
I don't remember the requirements but the only problem is that 3d stuff
(I guess).

Ahh if anybody would bother to advice a card to buy it would be great, though I'm gonna buy a new CPU soon also double my RAM to 1GB, but what I have now is:
! GHz AMD CPU (Gonna buy either 2-2,5GHZ or 3,2 GHz)
512 MB DDR RAM (upgrade to 1GB)
Only other things that I know of is 2 HDD (40 and 60 GB)

And again thanks alot :)

There are two versions of current video cards, PCI-E and AGP. Your system uses an AGP version, so you have plenty of choices available. If it's the same system that your Rage card is in, then you probably will have to buy a new mainboard before you buy a new video card. Many of the older mainboards have AGP slots that are incompatible with newer cards. (Voltages are different, etc.) In other words, you really need to build a new computer. :)

Are you looking to have a super game computer, one that can play all the latest games, or what are you looking to have?

Thanks.

I bought this PC to upgrade it so thats ok :D
BTW it's a KIT.

Anyway this is basically what I'm looking for (in near future)

New CPU at 3,2 Ghz (perhaps)
double my RAM to 1GB
external HDD (600GB)
I wish to have a computer that can play new games, thats why I was think a little longer into the future at first.
Not neccerairly a super computer but just not crap :) As I said I wish to play games, doesn't have to be the latest 'cuz I have a PS2 also and I'm getting a PS3 when it's out. But Iwant to have my PC faster maybe not at those specs above but I don't wan't it slow like it's now.

But if I need to change my motherboard, that is too complicated for me to do, I can change cards but I don't even wanna touch the motherboard.
I have been wondering that I have to replace it when I get a new CPU though so I guess it's best to get all those things installed at once in a shop even they charge ridiculous amounts of bucks in Norway.....

If you live close to them, you should get Jasef or hobs0n to fix it for you. I think they're are in Oslo. Jasef's a moderator here at Rage3d.

Or, if you do want to try to change the motherboard, which you could do if you wanted, then just use the manual that comes with the motherboard. If you buy an Asus brand board, for example, they have good manuals that tell you how to install everything, and how to set it up after you install everything. You'd learn a lot by doing it yourself at least once. :)

OK Thanks I put together a list, that is fairly cheap also with components that are fairly good.

Not a super PC but it should run many of the newest games.
*copying from notepad* :)

CPU
Socet: 754 AMD CPU Sempron 3300+ 2GHz
Motherboard
Socet: 754 Msi Mainboard S-754 K8M800
DDR-2 RAM
Apacer 1GB SDRAM 533GHz
Graphics card
???????????????????????
Apart from that I belive only need stuff like a new fan for the cabinette and a new CPU fan, stuff like that :)

If anybody could tellme if these applications work together (or workat all)
I would be most grateful, the only thing I am not sure of if I can use this is what graphics card to buy
Anyway thanks alot for all the help, it have been great :D

Msi Mainboard S-754 K8M800 mATX VGA Audio LAN SATA Bulk
or this one
Asus Mainboard S-754 nVidia 6100 mATX VGA Audio LAN SATA Raid Retail

But I spoke with the guy I bought the computer from and he said the GR card I have can't be that old

Its a really really old card from about 1995
It's not THAT long since he used the PC himself but I'll take another look at the description:
ATI Tech 3D RAGE IIC PCI (A12/A13)
I'm playing games from 2003 on it (CM 03/04), Baldurs Gate 2 runs smoothly don't remember how old it is though but the cut scenes look good with this card and there is no other problems with it apart from it asking for Direct3D when I try to run CM5.
