Sony disses GBA launch

Yeah, Sony and their so called(cough, cough) shortages. Everywhere you go now you see Piles of that PS2 junk on store shelves...They made the mistake and let people play it on the instore setup....
 
The war between Gamecube and PS2 will come down to which system has the most games I think. That is one of the reasons why the N64 didnt do to well. The regular PS dosent look that great, but look at how much more games it had than Nintendo.
 
Yep you are right!For me n64 is pure gold .I stil play Goldenye and Banjo-Toie and of course Mario Kart and Mario Tennis
 
Ps2 is in a very bad situation right now.

Its n64 2 in many ways.

Complicated hardware -> hard to get decent performances out of the console -> hard to develop for -> pain in the ass for developers -> more money and takes longer to complete a game -> poor flow of games throught the lifespan of the console -> many delays -> angry gamers -> poor sales in software -> n64 2

Basicly, gamecube will catch up to ps2 in terms of # of games very, very fast, by fall 2002 is my estimate. But then gamecube will have so much more
quality titles than ps2, which is what really counts to gamers :)
 
I'm not sure that GameCube will ever surpass the PS2 in the number of games. The PS2 has got quite a head start...plus Nintendo doesn't really like the idea of cranking out tons of games. Unless 3rd parties go absolutely nuts Nintendo likes to spread out most of it's A+ titles for maximum coverage and sales. Sony like to release as many games as they possibly can, for this reason i don't see Nintendo catching up but ya never know....It is a little overwhealming to have too many games released. You can never concentrate/play very many games before hoardes more are released.

They are already going nuts :) Even if ps2 got a head start, its have a very slow flow of games, gamecube will catch up little by little.

Nintendo likes to spread out most of it's A+ titles for maximum coverage and sales. Sony like to release as many games as they possibly can, for this reason i don't see Nintendo catching up but ya never know....

Sony's internal teams dont release much games, they rely on 3rd party developers mostly. Nintendo on gamecube no longer have any censorship and no longer have quality controls with mario club. Of course mario club is still there, but thats only if the developer want, there are no obligations. Sony in fact, is now censoring their games, enix confirmed that they have less troubles with nintendo than sony.
Nintendo also have 4 times more 2nd parties now than n64, they are opening many new 1st party houses in japan, and miyamoto is training yound developers personally to take his place when the day of retirement comes. So while 3rd parties are going nuts, you still maintain the quality from nintendo's 1st and 2nd parties, which is why a nintendo console is worth owning.

The roles have changed it seems no? Psx got popular cause 3rd parties and a big flow of games by them. Now sony is doing what nintendo did inthe n64 days, and nintendo is doing what sony did on psx.

nod, nintendo is aiming for around 20 upto 25 games at launch, with a steady flow of games after. What killed n64 wasnt the launch lineup, it was simply cause there was nothing else to look forward after the launch, delays after delays, thats what hurt the console. Gamecube aint in the same situation.

Peoples underestimate nintendo so much, i cant stop but to grin. Their plans are near perfection, they have the media in the palm of their hands by the way they are marketing gamecube, they got PLENTY of trojan horses to sell gamecube hardwares, GBA is an example. They are coming up with killer games faster than anyone thinks also, zelda mainly. They have the right cards and so far they've played them all right, nintendo created card games in japan over 111 years ago afterall :)

Having said that, i'll probably end up with a ps2 next year anyway, when the price drop down and they fix their heat problems. But gamecube will be my main console, along with GBA :D

Anyways, everyone is going after Sony! You cant say its a perfect system, but with everyone and thier mother going after it you dont really think it shouldnt be worried?

Yeah, PS2's are sitting on the shelves but do you know how many PS2's have been shipped already?? Yeah, its quite a bit. Soon you will have 3 systems to choose from. And when you look at Price to Options ratios which would you buy?? GC-200, PS2-250, XBOX-300. GC offers you the ability to play GC games, and link up a GBA (whoopie) PS2 offers you to play DVD's and play any PSone game available along with PS2 games. And the big Xbox allows you to play Xbox games and DVD movies, oh wait..you gotta buy a remote for that. The GC has 20-30 titles available, the Xbox has about the same, the PS2 has over 100 titles to choose from. The least of the two I would consider buying is the Xbox!! Gamecube will be sitting next to my PS2 in the very near future.

Sony wasnt attacking the GBA! They were attacking those people comparing it to the PS2! In fact if you look at it the PS2 sold thier PS2s faster then the GBA! Although its hard to judge from the limited quanities, the PS2 sold every system in the first 2 days!! Many of the late PS2 sales came from people not knowing which stores would have any. I dont see that many GBA's sitting on EBAY, nothing near like the PS2 had.

Anyways, the article just showed that Sony has finally got competition. Nintendo finally got thier head out of thier @ss, and is taking major strides to try and regain the #1 position!
 
Lock at this!!You are seyng that you are still playng ps 1 games on ps 2?That says all(ps 2 is pice of garbege)I bet that 90%of people that buy Ps 2 have a ps 1.Game Cube will have a DVD to in future but i don't need one.I have a DVD on my comp.
 
Really, who want a second rate DVD player controlled by a gaming controller... Whoopie about playing PS1 games on a PS2. Sony incorporated selling features beacause the new they dont have the games to back up the system, so offer this in that with it, it will sell...You said it, what will the GC offer, games, thats the ticket...

P.s. I borrowed the PlagueStation 2 off my buddy for a month, it sucked big time. esp. NHL 2001, stut, stut, st, sutt, stutter....at the mid ice section mostly and faceoffs...

the ps2 is nice i guess but dvd players are cheap now i got one for 80 bucks and the players video/sound quality make the ps2 look lame....
 
Ps2 doesnt have heat problems? What do you call over 3000 ps2 returned in UK during last xmas alone? As soon as the ps2 is on its vertical position the heat have problems to disipate, it gets on top and was frying wires if used for long periods. Sony might of have fixed that.....for now
Wait till you plug the hard drive in that thing..... :eek: oohhhhhh it wont be pretty, especially since its on top, is 7200rpm and have NO air vents whatsoever.

Do I play PSone games on my PS2..YOU BET!! Why??? Cuz I gave my PSone to my nephew and kept a few of the games I had. Kinda think of it the only PSone game I have played since I got my PS2 has been GT2! Cant wait for GT3 to come out!!

Hmm..you said Heat problems...I guess you should have clarrified the problems in UK not WORLDWIDE!! I have my PS2 in a verticle position all the time..never had a problem with it!!

I have 4 DVD players in my house including my PS2. Is the quality of the PS2's DVD player that bad...LOL Yeah..maybee if you have your PS2 hooked up through a coax cable...LOL LOL Unlike some people I actually have a TV with S-video and Component inputs! The picture quality on a DVD player is very hard to judge when you have a good TV!! Go ahead and pick up a cheap DVD player..Im gonna laugh when it wont play a lot of DVDs, due to scratches or the manufacturing proccess!!

Stu..stu..stu...HALO!! A machine so advanced using the "Best" video card the home computer market has ever seen cant make it play at a decent framerate!! HOW PATHETIC!! Oh, wait...DOA3 is running silky smooth on the Xbox and it is rendering 5000 leaves...Darn..must be that darn programing thing that plagues gameplay!! Ive played games on every system that stuttered!! And of all those games I have played theres more that offer better graphics and better framerates! So I guess everyone who owns Madden 2001 for the PS2 and doesnt have any stuttering problems must have a FASTER PS2 then the ones playing NHL!!!

Seriously guys listen to yourselves... I can be as brute and sarcastic as I want too, but you fellahs come off way to harsh on this whole subject!! Its a frickn console!! I love video games and sex..I get plenty of one and buy plenty of the other. (come on..I know you can think of a sarcastic mark for that) Like I said before, Im gonna buy a GC to go along with my PS2, at least Im true to myself in wanting a wide variety of games. You guys on the other hand need to get a life..IF the PS2 fails its not the end or beggining of the world..its a frickn console. If you dont have anything better to do with your lives then down grade a console like its an ex-girlfriend then I seriously think you need to call her up and get some!!

You can do it..put the controller down, grab the phone and dial away. Come back when you get that fealing of tranquility and see how pathetic it is for someone to hate an inanimate object that much!

You will feel better about yourself once you confront your problem. I know I did...I no longer hate my computer when it crashes...instead I live with it and continue to use it as much as possible. Getting online and B!tching about it never solved anything..so now I just go with the flow!

Sony are full of ****, cussing down a little handheld in fearthat it will beat thier multimedia system. I’ve also read some articles about Sony putting the Xbox down at E3, If they think this gob shite makes them look ballsy and hard they are wrong it makes them look scared.

Hmmm PS2 i returned after 1 week it bored me :( .
GBA totaly absorbed me with its excellent castlevania, Mario and THPS2 i havent played CounterStrike since i got my GBA :eek:

I didn’t use my PS2 for DVD's as i have a perfectly good DVD player and had no interest in playing PS1 games on it, if i did i would have kept with my PS1 until better games came out for the PS2.

I have nothing against Sony i loved the PSX/PS1, its just there is nothing about the PS2 that appeals to me in any way, except possibly GT3.

Most of the PS2's which were returned were because of game compatibility problems, DVD Problems, corrupt memory cards and power supply units malfunctioning,

The overheating problems were only recording in development models and that was corrected before they were shipped.

I bet Nintendo and the X-Box have the same problems, have you seen the size of the fan in the X-Box it's huge, because of the Intel Pentuim III-750MHz processor it's using which in a small space like inside the X-Box needs heat dissipation otherwise it will fry.
