Why do the images on my web site load so slowly?

Hey!

Here's my web site, www.global-uniforms.com, if you browse the product categories on the left, you will see that the images load very slowly, yet the files are not that big, about 60Kb each...
Any suggestions as to how I can make them load faster or in such a way that looks a bit more professional?

Are the source images the exact same size as you specify in the HTML? If not, resize the source images to the exact same size as you want them on the page. You could also use greater JPEG compression on the image to make them even smaller. If none of that works you can load a small animated GIF in the same place on the page that says "Loading Image ..." first and let the images load on top of the GIF.
