Why does PunkBuster stink so much?

First Post...

Anyway,
When I install PunkBuster it always either throws me off the server..For some odd reasons..Or I can't connect at all..I know it's usefull for banning cheaters..But I would rather not use it at all..
Plus I think it was responsible for my servere HL errors I was getting..

Plus I'm sure it takes up bandwith that I really can't spare on dial-up..So I give PB a big thumbs down..

(It was the latest beta of PB that I was using..)

How does anyone else feel about it?
 
Well, it doesn't use any bandwidth since it's just basically a tsr program that monitors your system for certain types of running processes. It helps with casual cheaters, but it can be cracked by people who really really want to cheat (read: the real losers out there). I think it's a good idea, but I don't go out of my way to find servers running it.
 
The idea is cool and it works for a lot of people but i to ohave had some problems with it. i hope they get a good working version soon...
 
I'm definitly down with the idea..Cause I @#$%^&* hate cheaters..But like SirX said..A good working version would be good..All they have are beta versions..And we all know how beta's can be sometimes..:rolleyes:
 
I bet Valve picks it up and builds it right into a future version of Half-Life, or a future game.
 
You know.. there is hacks for PB so that you can bypass it :( it sucks.

I don't really play CS so much these days because it's so full of cheaters and 12yr old lamers...
 
Doesn't that just *suck*? I'm so down because I love CS but games these days are rife with jerks who just spoil the game. Maybe when the vox feature is finally incorporated we can fully curse like troopers at them... :)

Stoner can you be more specific about your errors..there's a lot of reasons why that might be happen, it's probably PB's fault, but who knows. Bandwidth usage is fine for me on 56k. I love the program because even if it doesn't stop cheaters, it discourages and scares them.

<HL has caused an error in unknown>..:confused:
And will be shut down..
Then it takes my desktop with it(640x480) I have to start HL again & exit out of it to get my desktop back to 1024x768..

I don't use PB anymore & guess what? No more errors...
Besides they don't use PB in Day of Defeat..(My new game..CS who?)
 
Come on now...you know CS! CS is great, but you need to load up Q3A and try out Urban Terror! That mod is awesome! You do have Q3A, don't you?
 
That's very odd. I bet formatting would fix it. :)

IMO DoD is like TFC except in a different setting. CS is just more playable to me.

I have Q3A..And the UT mod..I don't like it that much...

Watch your mouth young man..:D Actually I formatted last month & stopped using PB..Good ever since..
