I guess we are philosophically opposed and different, because I think busting your ''ass'' off for something so meniscal makes it even more painful to digest. But enjoy it. :masterrace:

Some of us enjoy toying with hardware and testing new things. It's not all about gaming for me. I find far more enjoyment out of testing, building, and overclocking than I do gaming. I'm going to have a ton of fun messing with this new board and chip, finding the limits of the IMC, and what it will mean for the memory overclock that I know were the bleeding edge max on my 9900K. Will I get 4000Mhz or higher now? Maybe not? I wanna find out and it makes me giddy. Indeed, we find enjoyment out of different things.

Cool story bro. We're aware of AMD's 16 core CPU's. You have now met some enthusiasts on the forum that buy shiit and thrash it out because it's their hobby. Welcome to R3D.

Personally, I'm totally fine with 8 cores if it's the fastest for gaming. I've been down this road before in the quad core era ;)

It should run 4000MHz memory no problem, if the sticks can handle it.

How much are these websites paying you to post their videos daily on R3D?

The truth is i am having an adiction deciding my cpu upgrade....I got myself in a mental loop a bit.
On one hand i want some intel performance, on the other hand i have a b350 and a 3700x sufficient...In the last weeks i haven't played any games or i said i will play old games until the market recovers. Also the no need for upgrade is on table too.ALso RKL is around the corner and i may wait..All in all i still look at freaking benchmarks ... Well i looked at them in a loop and i post them here too..

SuperGeil Jan 21, 2021 06:43 PM

If you have a 3700x there is no need to upgrade and just stick out till Zen 4 or Core 12. The videos are fine, I don't get the big deal.

Empire strikes back?

Exposed Jan 22, 2021 11:42 AM

I was interested in Intel's next gen and even current Ryzen CPU's, but I couldn't justify the wait or the scalping cost as I needed to upgrade my office/app development PC quickly.

So I settled for a 10700F paired with an Asrock Extreme 4 490 motherboard, 16GB 3200Mhz memory, and a low profile Noctua cooler.

Not the best by any means, but this is a considerable upgrade from a 3770k, and price was worth it. Case, power supply, drives, etc.. remained but also did an SSD upgrade while at it. Also tossed the DVD writer since the last time I used it was to transfer porn onto DVD's a decade ago. :bleh: This is running with my old 2080Ti as well. For what's just a simple office/ VR machine, everything is running much better than before.

Now, my main living room gaming PC isn't really due for an upgrade (powered by an i7 8700 and RTX 3080), but it's going on about 3 years now. Will see who offers the best gaming performance value in Summer of 2021. Main thing though won't really be the processor but whatever memory (and GPU of course) it's paired with.

KAC Jan 22, 2021 11:43 AM

Looks like a good pickup for office use.

Exposed Jan 22, 2021 11:48 AM

Word!

Mangler Jan 22, 2021 11:59 AM

Why not just swap the office pc with the 8700?

That way you would upgrade both systems in one go.

Exposed Jan 22, 2021 03:01 PM

I keep my office PC and gaming PC's separate, no swapping, I need both to be properly upgraded for my needs when the time comes. So for my office/work/VR/app development PC, a 10700 > 8700. Once the 8700 is upgraded to whatever (which I wouldn't do now anyways because next gen Intel isn't out yet, and Ryzen scalping still in force), that 8700 goes further down the hand me down ladder, probably a dedicated streaming box or I'll give away. Basically my gaming PC and office/work PC leapfrog each other every few years at least for the CPU.

Z590 boards in stock at Newegg. If I were building a PC I would be all over them right now.

Damn, Z590 Strix E already sold out. Thinking about picking a TUF. :bleh:

Intel is set to launch its new Rocket Lake-S family of CPUs in March 2021, but it looks like the flagship Core i9-11900KF processor is going to be a hot one -- with temps hitting 98C -- even with a 360mm AIO cooler.

Intel's new Core i9-11900KF will have a base clock somewhere around 3.5GHz, with an all-core boost of up to 4.8GHz. We don't know what 360mm AIO cooler that the leaker was using, other than it being described as an "entry 360 AIO cooler". The CPU was being tested in an AVX workload, so we should see these temps lowered during regular/gaming workloads.

KAC Jan 30, 2021 12:42 PM

98 C. Now I am glad I went AMD lol.

Nunz Jan 30, 2021 05:43 PM

It was an AVX workload. Go turn on Prime95 and see what kind of temps your 5900X gets..

Zero information on the cooler, fan speed, etc. Pretty garbage leak to pull any useful data or information from.

Agreed, if you want to cook a CPU that's sure to do it.

KAC Jan 30, 2021 08:33 PM

Mine hits 91 C with AVX workload. That is in OCCT AVX2 all core max load test.
Seems Intel is going to charge 600 boners for the 11900K. Damn.
