Cut some heatsinks and mounted a fan for cooling my mosfets in preparation for my new cpu. (Phenom II X2 555 w/ 4 cores unlockable)

Still need to order some thermal tape to mount them.

Awesome, I approve of the bodging! :D

Hope it works - don't pull any chips off in the process!

I really need to do something about the wires in my system. I just got crap thrown everywhere. I know what I'm doing this weekend.

Treeckcold57 Mar 29, 2010 10:07 PM

Xion X2, that is so beautiful art work!

Yikes the wires man. If you want a professional wiring job send it to me. I get that baby look like it came out of one of the Falcon NW's Headquaters.:D

New Eyefinity6 desk

Got a new desk to hold my Eyefinity6 setup. $30 from local thrift store, no laminated particle board here - solid and sturdy. Some joints had sprung when we got it, so I replaced some screws and added some brackets to beef it up. 60" wide and 30" deep. The computer tower hutch isn't big enough for a HAF so I put my UPS there instead.

XFX x58i / Core i7 920 @ 4Ghz (4.2 Turbo) w/CoolIT Domino ALC / G.Skill RipJaws DDR3 @ 1200 8-8-8-24 1T @1.5v 3x2GB / Intel X25-E / Seagate 7200.12 1TB / AMD ATI Radeon HD 5870 2GB Eyefinity 6 / Corsair TX 850 / Cooler Master HAF 932 / Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Absolutely you can. At the AMD VISION launch in September 2009, AMD did their whole presentations all day using a single HD 5870 on three 1920x1080 20' projector screens. At the fan event later you could play Hawx, Dirt2 on them. It was incredible.

You get Diet Rite for the first year.

As far as the screen pic goes, I used it for promo shots for my review on the Eyefinity6, and it was the most convenient pic I had for a 5760x2160 desktop - 12.5MP wallpapers are hard to come by, and the promo pic AMD sent me only needed the canvas size extending horizontally a little to make it fit.

How do you play first person shooters on 6 screens? I mean, isn't your center where your shots land in the middle of the bezel?

caveman-jim Apr 17, 2010 12:55 AM

For FPS I disable bezel compensation. Some games allow you to move the HUD and reticule around if you tweak the .ini files, or adjust the PoV.

Trunks0 Apr 17, 2010 02:34 AM

Have you tried moving the displays to overlap their bezels yet to help minimize their appearance? Or does that just end up as annoying because the overlapping lip reflects screen above/below/beside it?

caveman-jim Apr 17, 2010 09:17 AM

No, the stands don't permit that (a 2x2 stand and a 1x2 stand).

The bezels really don't get in the way that much, I very rarely wish they weren't there, but I am definitely interested in 5x1 portrait.

Apocalypsee Apr 18, 2010 03:07 AM

New case, CM 690

Cable management are pretty poor, but I wait for new modular PSU before doing anything (yes, that is P4 Prescott heatsink cooling the harddrive and its fan cooling the VRM, the speed is controlled of course)

Flyordie Apr 21, 2010 06:22 PM

I decided to update the cooler on the NB...

Trunks0 Apr 22, 2010 03:23 AM

awwwww, isn't that a cute little heatpipe :D

Yes it is... idk what is the norm but my NB can now run 2.4Ghz with just 1.2V.
HT needs 1.25V for 2.0Ghz but I didn't need anything more out of HT.

Before it needed 1.35V for the NB and HT to get stable at those clocks.
