She works with 2 Guys Smoke shop, the largest premium cigar distributer in the U.S. Shes become a bit of a Cigar-lebrity.

So, it begins.
The old system is fine. In fact, it’s pretty beefy (x570 motherboard, AMD Ryzen 9 3900x, 32Gigs of RAM, Corsair HX850W PSU, Noctua NH-D15). I’m migrating it to the freaking Gigantic! Fractal Design Meshify 2 XL, dropping a 5900X on the board, and giving it a new PSU (Corsair HX1000W) in anticipation of an Nvidia 3080 or 3090.
Our younger daughter is going into digital art. The 3900x will serve her very well.
Here’s the old system (nestled in an awesome Fractal Design Define 6). I’m almost sad to change it out. It’s such a great case!

But you see this area there?

That’s the GPU retention clip. Imagine a huge Noctua cooler hovering just over that area. Any time I wanted to remove the gpu I had to fetch a plastic knife (my weapon of choice)…

..remove the fan from the cooler and carefully push that clip. Not fun. Terrible for a guy with fat fingers (how did I ever play the piano?).

Any who…
Here’s the case compared to the Meshify Freaking Huge Edition BBQ-Sauce XLXL:

Perspective is a bit off, but you get the idea. The difference in height is roughly ½ kilometer (math is hard).
First thing I did was remove the heatsink from the processor.
You can see that the paste was nicely spread. I had the Noctua on “Silent” mode all the time. Never heard it unless I was intentionally stressing the processor.

Time to clean up the Noctua and processor!

“Ver-nice-a!”
Poor lil’ guy. Here you can see him gutted. (rated PG-13)

Now, time to crack the new parts.
I cracked the CPU out of its box. You could have fit 10 more cpus in there. Nothing. Not even a coupon.

I placed it on the motherboard with the Arctic mount.

Then, the Arctic MX-5 Thermal Compound

This is paste with an attitude. During the install, it jumped on my new mower to take it for a spin

Freaking heck!

Anyway, its ice blue.

And spreads like butter.

There it is on the proc. I used the Off-set holes for better colling on the 5900x (about 2-3 degrees). Yet, I left the wrong end uncovered. You cant see it, but I did a contact test and the MX-5 covered where I needed it.
He did such a nice job, I let him drive the van to take a few buddies out. Here he is with MX-4 and Xigmatek Thermal Grease.

Nice to see him wearing a seatbelt. We raised him right.

mizzer Apr 19, 2021 01:01 PM

I realized early on that I would need to remove the front fans in order to mount the radiator there.

These came out easily after I removed a few screws. I read that they are good and quiet. I’ll probably use them as exhaust fans on the top until I get my EVGA hybrid 30xx series card.
I unboxed the cooler.

And I prepared the block on the Arctic Liquid Your Momma’s So Big We Can’t Joke About This Any More Edition.

You can see the mounts attached to the block.

Don’t fret. I removed the plastic before install.

I started to sweat just a little bit after mounting the radiator to the front of the case. I wondered if the tubes would be long enough. They were.

Now, I just have to install the GPU and start it up!

Cat tax:
Here’s Master Chief Cuddles looking dead:

And again…

He loves belly scritches. He’ll let you scritch him for hours. Seriously.

I’ll be back with more pics and benches.

Peace out…

Great pics. That case is huge like yo ... ****ing hell. Can’t joke anymore. So dry these forums like yo m**’s va... dammit to hell.

Not sure I knew how thermal paste could drive a van but now I do. :bleh:

acroig Apr 19, 2021 10:25 PM

Great pics mizzer, thanks.

Reminder FTW.

Preliminary tests: Ran a few temperature tests. This thing idles at 29 with fans at 25%. More to come...

KAC Apr 20, 2021 12:07 PM

How far did you clock that 5900X?

Hapatingjaky Apr 20, 2021 12:19 PM

Trying to figure out where to mount the Arctic Freezer II 360 everything says bottom or side, not top.

Nunz Apr 20, 2021 12:34 PM

Side and top are how I run my two in my 011XL. I've tested out every single scenario so many times and having the rad mounted at the top is just so much quieter. Yes, you can drop 2-3c by going intake and spinning the fans up, but it's much more noisy.

 Sweet. Nice job on the build.

Now build a cage around it to keep cat fur away from the intake fans lol.

Right?! If he wasn't so snuggly he'd be a handbag already. Freakin' cuddly, snuggly, cute wittle pink nosies*** ahem!*** Stupid cat.:bleh:

Just stock for now. I had an issue with the fans last night: one fan was spinning at 100%. After rigorous testing it turned out the connector was loose. :bleh: Now, it's golden.

BTW: it's silent until about 60% power. I mean dead silent.

Your top mount, is it push/pull?

KAC Apr 20, 2021 08:22 PM

You don’t need push/pull in an XL.
Also whoever said bottom mount for an AIO needs a smack across the head.

Nah. Push/Pull doesn't do anything on these thin AIO radiators.

The Freezer II is one of the thickest rads on an AIO on the market. 38MM thick, that's an 1" 9/16.

Nunz Apr 21, 2021 11:44 AM

38" really isn't that thick man  with good fans, they don't have a problem pushing air through a 38mm rad.

Hapatingjaky Apr 21, 2021 12:16 PM

You guys are giving up at most 8c without running in Push+Pull. No wonder KAC's system runs like a blast furnace.

Plus the fact that running in Push+Pull allows you to lower fan speed and dropping Db's at the same time.

And you call yourselves enthusiastes.....

KAC Apr 21, 2021 12:35 PM

Dude I have had push/pull for 10 years so don’t know wtf you are talking about.

Nunz Apr 21, 2021 01:10 PM

Except it's not 8c. I've tested with 6x A12x25s vs 3. The extra fans just add more noise for 2-3c max.

I run my CPU rad fans at 1050rpm.. they're silent lol

A small follow-up:

SSDs and the video card are now installed. This is a view from the back. Considering it's where I keep all the cords, it's not bad:

Fractal throws in a bottom cover for bonus. Woot! It covers some of the mess but it's purely for esthetics. Still, it's things like this that will secure my loyalty to a case company:

Here's a picture from the front:

I added a BeQuiet fan because the stock fan was "humming" at low speeds. Such a tiny little 3070! But man! A whole lotta room for the impending 3090...

Lazy8s Apr 26, 2021 03:44 PM

Very nice mizzer :)

Makes me want to dive back into the building scene...not yet though. Great job

Hapatingjaky Apr 26, 2021 04:05 PM

That's a KAC cabling job right there.

 KAC has the money he needs, builds what he wants, games for hours on end and still has time to troll R3D to his hearts content.

I'd trade a little wiring neatness for that lol.

KAC Apr 26, 2021 08:54 PM

Dude that 3070 is sagging like a retired hooker tits that slept with Lazy when he was a young 200 year Dino. Damn.
