methimpikehoses Mar 13, 2013 12:06 AM

one last little addition to my current rig...

aviphysics Mar 13, 2013 10:17 AM

what case is that?

Sazar Mar 13, 2013 10:22 AM

Mother of god Meth, that's a HUGE heat sink :runaway:

Can you hear the air moving through it or is it truly silent?

Mangler Mar 13, 2013 10:25 AM

Isn't that heatsink of a fairly normal size?

Speaking strictly of aftermarket heatsinks.

Yep, looks about the same size as my Thermalright True Spirit.

methimpikehoses Mar 13, 2013 11:08 AM

normal size. it's a xigmatek night hawk w/ 2 corsair sp silents in push/pull, and yes it is nearly silent.

case is lian li pc-v700b.

I think it just looks big because of the configuration of the MB. We have also gotten used to seeing all those closed loop liquid cooled systems.

I think the fans made it look a lot bigger when I saw it on my phone

Now on my desktop, it doesn't look overly dramatic :bleh2:

God that heatsink on the Titan is pure sex. I really hope its a new trend in graphic card heatsinks.

logical Mar 13, 2013 04:18 PM

They should have added a back plate on the titan for the price you have to pay to get one.

bob saget Mar 13, 2013 04:19 PM

Looks great methim. Balls-to-the-wall great.

A back plate would take up some of the precious gap between two of these in SLI.

logical Mar 13, 2013 04:33 PM

But it would look damn good

Nunz Mar 13, 2013 05:20 PM

They should sell that god damn cooler on the Titan. I want them for my GTX680s..

BababooeyHTJ Mar 13, 2013 06:01 PM

Yeah, I would have loved a vapor chamber cooler on the 680. It would have made that damn thing silent.

I've never bought into vapor chamber cooler hype. My toxic 6970s had them and so did my 5970, 6990s. Temps were avg or sucked.

caveman-jim Mar 14, 2013 09:36 AM

think how much worse they would have been without one then

Exactly, just look at what a vapor chamber cooler did for the GTX 570 and 580.

I wholeheartedly agree. Even my HD6970's had back plates on them stock. They make it look so much nicer.

Trivium Nate Mar 19, 2013 05:57 PM

my back is fine everyone always makes bad posture comments about my setup

My 6900s reference was only a tad worse than the vapor x. The vapor chamber I had on my 5970 was horrible (i tried to repaste it too). Switching to an aftermarket cooler my load temps dropped 30c and my idle temps dropped 25c.

BababooeyHTJ Mar 20, 2013 04:59 PM

I had a reference gtx 570 and a gtx 570 with a gtx470 pcb and cooler and the difference was night and day.

It just looks incredibly uncomfortable but if it works for you more power bud.

Do you sit on the floor? I find I slouch so bad even in a chair... You gotta make sure your head stays ABOVE your shoulders, and not in front... Huge problem for me.

I think it is for anyone that uses a PC. I don't have Scoliosis by nature. But I'm sure as hell getting it by habit!
