I'm not convinced. My spreadsheet says otherwise.

Doubling the diagonal increases the resolution by 4 times. Which makes sense. I think that's what you probably meant.

Edit: I just realized I spelled resolution wrong in my spread sheet.

I meant horizontal or vertical resolution, not total pixels.

Now that the new computer is done, I took a few pictures. Behold. The RAWRbox! :runaway:

Nice machine, very good wire management, love the top on your desk. I would check one of your SATA cable doesn't look totaly snapped in.

Looking sweet, I do however find it quite odd that asus felt the need to stamp the dx11 support quote on the mainboard

It looks like it doesn't it? The one on the right just has a connector twice as long as the other two. If you look at the clip at the top it lines up with the connectors to the right of it. It's plugged in as far as it will go.

Thanks for the word on the cable management. I only wanted to cry three times trying to hide as much as I could. :runaway:

Thanks! The wife wants to pick up another one. They're marble looking desks we picked up from Nebraska Furniture Mart a while back. Two of them are setup in a bit of an L-shape right now and she wants to get a 3rd.

I thought I would give a more complete description of what I was thinking.

As an example, imagine a display that is 9 units tall and 16 units wide. Its diagonal will be (9^2+16^2)^(1/2) = 12 units.

If the width and height are scaled by a factor α, then the new width will be 16α, the height will be 9α and the diagonal will be ((9α)^2+(16α)^2)^(1/2)=12α

If the horizontal and vertical resolution is fixed to λ (pixels/unit), the number of horizontal pixels will be 16αλ and the number of vertical pixels will be 9αλ. The total number of pixels will be, 144*(α^2)(λ^2)

Then doubling the diagonal length while keeping λ the same, will require twice as many pixels in the horizontal and vertical directions and 4 times the number of total pixels.

7 monitors

Just upgraded my monitor setup over the long weekend:

7 monitors close up by rtangwai, on Flickr

Much better balance than the old setup, and the upper monitors are all MVA so the viewing angles are not a problem compared to the TN panels I used to use.

You have got to be sh!tting me! How the hell do you guys afford these setups?

I was just tripping as on the same page two incredible setups were posted. I don't know that I even want to try anymore. It's hopeless! :p

Whenever I see shots of people's desks with as many monitors as they can hook up to a PC I remember this:
