Multiple Sony PS4 exclusives are coming to PC, starting with Horizon: Zero Dawn

Horizon: Zero Dawn Is Coming To PC

"The PlayStation 4 exclusive Horizon: Zero Dawn will come to personal computers this year, sources tell Kotaku. It’s an unprecedented move for Sony that signals a future in which the publisher releases games on platforms beyond its own consoles.

Horizon: Zero Dawn, an open-world game set in a post-apocalyptic version of the United States that has been overrun by robot dinosaurs, launched for PS4 in February 2017.

Now, three years later, Horizon will be on another platform for the first time. We expect to see the game on both Steam and the Epic Games Store when it launches (although that may not be finalized yet)."(full article)

More Money to be made in selling on all platforms.

Gaming is going to be very weird over the next few years imo.

Consoles are not going to be discrete systems with their own games. Most games will launch across several systems (e.g. xbone, xbone x, xbone series x). You'll probably have crossplay more often than not, even for shooters. Xbox Game Studios are pushing for PC / Xbox at the same time and it looks like Sony are coming around to the idea.

HZD was a great game but I probably wouldn't buy it again on PC.

twonha Jan 16, 2020 05:09 PM

Welp. My PS4 bucket list really only consists of Horizon: Zero Dawn and The Last Guardian anymore. Time to consider selling the thing off. :bleh:

Right - Give me God of War at 120fps in 3440x1440.

Evileh Jan 16, 2020 05:54 PM

Pc is making it's comeback for sure

Hopefully at a fair and decent price. None of that $60 shite for a 3 year old game.

Lazy8s Jan 16, 2020 06:58 PM

HZD is an amazing title, excellent choice on Sony's part.

I hope we see Bloodborne as well

BB on pc at 60 fps would be too perfect to ever happen, but man I wish. I got a ps4 specifically to play Bloodborne and for a very long time it was my only game on there.

This.

Played it on PS Now but on PC it will be like wiping ones backside with silk.

KAC Jan 16, 2020 09:55 PM

HZD 2 should come on PC.

theshadowcult Jan 16, 2020 10:24 PM

Woot, finally, been waiting for ths one forever!

SirBaron Jan 16, 2020 11:59 PM

It’s still a rumour regardless how reliable he is, though I’d love to see Sony games on pc. Sony must know that there’s people who’d buy there games but wouldn’t buy a PlayStation.

Same here, it's very close to being one of my all time favorites.

I could see them doing this to compete with MS. I don't have game pass or an Xbox, but it seems to be a great model to rake in some $$.

I hope it happens, and if it does, gee...what better way to kick it off than a remastered Demon's Souls for PC?

It'll probably never happen, but I can fantasize about it :p

I've had HZD for my PS4 for a couple years. One of these days I should actually play it.

It's one of the few titles I can't recommend enough. The gameplay is flawless, the story is pretty deep and actually hits the feels, and it is just a beautiful game to look at. 10/10 for me.

Yeah I've heard that. Just boils down to a matter of time for me. Oh how I miss the days when I had fewer obligations and more time to spend on gaming.

A2597 Jan 17, 2020 10:08 AM

Nice, I wanted to play this one, but not buying a console for one game I'll rarely have time to play...

Drexion Jan 17, 2020 01:39 PM

Some console gamers are not taking the news well.

Horizon is one of the few console exclusives that interested me, but there has never been enough games on the consoles that I actually want to play to ever justify buying a console for. So I am hoping Horizon does come to the PC.

Kain Jan 17, 2020 06:02 PM

If this is going to be a trend for Sony, is there any reason to buy a PS5?

KAC Jan 18, 2020 01:16 AM

I think if this trend continues my next purchase will be a HDR10 120 Hz 4K Gsync enabled TV set plus a new graphics card. May even indulge in building an HTPC. I was hoping for buying the two consoles on launch but this seems like a better spend of money.

I suppose even if exclusives are timed, that would still be reason enough for a lot of people to buy a Playstation 5 to complement their PC. But if the only reason you'd ever buy a console is to play its exclusives years into its cycle (like I've done a few times now), then yeah, maybe times are a-changin'.

I convinced my brother to get an Xbox, a year or two after its launch, so I could finally play Halo for myself. I got a Playstation 2 for GTA: San Andreas, and caught up on games like Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. My wife had a Playstation 3, so I played The Last of Us a year or so after release. And I got a Playstation 4 Pro for RDR2, and caught up on several exclusives after that. I suppose for me, if exclusives come to PC years later, I could stop buying consoles.

But if a console is your primary gaming device and/or you want exclusives when they're actually hot, then the fact that they'd come to PC years later should be of no significance.

alitayyab Jan 18, 2020 06:47 AM

I bought a ps4 for TLOU and Uncharted series. Sold it soon after completing these. Would love to see these coming over to the PC. I am very patient and can wait a couple of years for a PC release.

For people who don't want to bother with a PC sure, for people like us, not really.
