I got them for 240.00 and sold my 2900XT for 100.00 and a BFG PSU 650W I picked up at compusa bargain store closing special for 20.00 I sold for 100.00 so it cost me 40 bucks. I am going to get the R700 when it releases.

This was to direct more airflow through the TRU to make more fin contact, instead of going out the sides.

For an E6320 @ 2.5 Ghz, idle temps dropped from 31 degC to 28 degC

Right.... I promised pics of my DVD player post-rage 128 upgrade. Believe it or not.... a PCI rage 128 gave me a noticeably snappier desktop. I think just giving the CPU more ram bandwidth by disabling the integrated did most of it, but I'm not complaining!

I will take better pics in a while. I took these when i put the ting together. Later on i mounted the resivuoir and pump outside te case to heklp with air flow.
If you take note you will see i have moded a akassa vortex gpu cooler to fit my 3870.
Its a tempory measure whilst i found out clocks i can get to on it. I will buy a 2 slot cooler solution when i find one. As i am also waiting for a new 3870 to arrive any day now, and i want tioo find a decent cooler that fits the 3870.

jokerz=jealous :D. Very nice looking setup man. I'm gonna post some new pics of my own modest little box once my new Reaper's get here and I get a chance to clean her out real good. I really need a new case! This Mystique has been pretty darn underwhelming, but I guess you get what you pay for :wink3:.

Thanks guys! I'm really pleased with the case, that was the best $50 I ever spent (props to Lup for sharing the linkage - $50 instant discount with $50 MIR, free shipping). Once my array rebuilds I'll do some benchies for everyone, see how it stacks up (get your requests in now).

on the right you can see my Buffalo Terastation NAS, you can't see it's modded PSU. The internal one died, I thought it was just a blown cap and replaced it but it was dead. Turns out the PSU only supplies 12v and 5v lines to the mainboard (powerPC based I believe) so I took my leftover CoolerMaster 330W Real Power PSU, modded some molex to sata adapters by sniping off the ends and soldering on the power connector from the internal PSU, and bridging the ATX power on connector, to get it working again :)*


with 4x500Gb drives in Raid5, thats a fair bit of storage ;)* GbE network as well, although it maxes out at 10-11% when copying (they're not known for their speed). I used good ol' black duct tape to sheath the wires, added a ground connection from case to case, and done! turn on the psu, press the power button on the front, and low power, low heat, network storage!

Oh fark it I'm gonna just post what I got together so far. Introducing my modest little Joker rig:







This thing is constantly under construction. I've got some ram coming tomorrow and as soon as the 4870 X2 is released I want one of those and this 4850 will go to my son. I'll post pics of his rig later... it's kinda crazy; a 8800gts on an old AT8 crossfire board w/ X2 @ 2.4ghz. The specs for my own pc are in the flyout to the left.

I'm particularly proud of my new LCD :). I know it's not anywhere near top of the line but it really does look nice. This pic doesn't do it justice really as it's too dark. And yes, my desk is crap :D. We're in a temporary residence right now while our new house is getting wood floors laid down in it so everything is just kinda thrown together at the moment. Sucks... we got boxes of crap everywhere, I can never find anything!!

Nice looking rig man! now i have to get my lazy ass to show off the nice cable management i did cause of my heat problems with my new GTX-280.

Sigh, might have to retire the rig for more time and send the GTX-280 out for an RMA :cry:

My desktop in my new Antec Three Hundred case. Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 with CoolerMaster Gemini II (no fans). I took the two yateloons I have on the Gemini and used them in the front 120mm mounting spots, and added a spare Antec Tri-Cool to the door fan. The DVD drive was originally a beige NEC, so I removed the tray front and bezel surround and sprayed them flat black. Inside we have a WD Raptor (80Gb 1.5gbps), and a Samsung IDE 250Gb for storage. FireGL V3400 for graphics (although currently I have a Geforce 8800GS 384Mb for playing with :)*), and 2x512mb DDR2-667.


Routing the wiring was more difficult than my P182b, because of the lack of chambers or wiring pass throughs to the behind the motherboard tray. However, the nice wiring tidy behind the drive mounts works well for keeping everything out of the way. Removing the front fan filter requires removing the front bezel completely. This is easy enough as only the right side has the hooks to clip it on to the case chassis, so you only need remove the right side panel to access it.


The case itself doesnt appear to be of the same high quality as the Antec Sonata and P182b I have. The panels are thinner, and the edges rougher - less rolled or polished finishes here. The paint is thinner and flatter than on either of my other modern Antec cases. No rubber mounting hard drive trays or drive rails for toolless maintenance; back to the good old days and screwing it in.


However the front fan mounting mechanism is nice, as is the pass though for fan power cables. I really appreciated the large bag of silver thumbscrews included with the case - an unexpected bonus! Plenty of mobo mounts (they go under your mobo guys!) and screws as well. The USB and sound front panel connector cables were only just long enough to reach the bottom located headers on my IP35-E. The power, reset, and HD status LED & switch connectors were plenty long enough to run under the motherboard and curl up over to connect to the mobo headers.


The PSU is bottom mounted, which could be a problem for motherboards with top located power and auxilliary connections, if the PSU doesn't have long enough cables. No PSU is included in the Three Hundred, so I used my Antec Earthwatts EA380W PSU. The 4pin power connector ran up under the motherboard to the top EPS12v power connector without issues, although plugging it in with the heatsink in place would be impossible if the mobo had been screwed down. CPU cooling is provided by the included rear 120mm and top 140mm tri-speed fans. With both fans set to medium speed, the CPU idles at 40C. I'll post overclocking and load adventures later.


In operation the case is a not silent - expected for this many fans, and speeds. Temps are good, airflow is good, size is excellent - fits neatly under my desk, and would look great atop it, if my P182b wasn't there already.
