Well I'm totally lost on this one.
Today I bought a Bitspower Titan X 1.2 kit minus the 3080 (was a great deal, couldn't pass it up) it's basically a custom Lian Li case with built in resevoir, hard tubes pre-cut and a bitspower touchaqua block/pump/radiator, but it also comes with an EVGA 850 GA, and a Strix Z490-E, was wanting to use this board with a 11600k, so I knew I'd have to do a bios update.
After I finished the build, it turned on, all ran well, even ran it while I bled my loop for a few minutes.
Went to do the new bios update for the 11600k via the flashback tool, after the Bios update, I was able to turn the PC on, it showed display, and then on DOS, the ASUS Aura Firmware update message came on, then it reset, then an Intel ME update came on the monitor, it reset. Except at this point, i can no longer get the PC back on. It's as if the power button is dead, I get absolutely nothing but the motherboard has lights going.
I tried clearing CMOS, flashing to an older bios, and jumping the pins. Nothing works.
I'm so confused, it worked fine, granted in an error state due to not having the new bios for 11th gen for 10+ minutes while I bleed and filled the system. I even had verified display after the bios update.
Paperclip test on PSU gets the PC fans to spin.
Seems like a bad bios flash is all it seems like.
On hardware side check the wires as well and see if there is a possible leak. Also I would do a smell test to see something didn’t burn out.
The other day my son’s PC won’t detect the second hard disk and it seemed that it’s busted. However, it was just a loose connection and a push and reboot got the hard disk back.
I see. Did you try a bios flash using the back side of the board w/ a USB? Sometimes you can do that even without a display signal. The other thing I would try (if available) is use another harddisk and not use the one which remembers the Intel ME firmware installed. I am hoping between a fresh bios install and a new hard disk you might be able to at least get it to boot.
If the power is not coming on at all then I don't know what is wrong as that doesn't seem to be related to the PSU or anything else. :hmm:
Also maybe this helps? https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthrea...Intel-ME-(Z490) or https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1038878/
Me firmware is another flash scenario... Not stored on a hard disk. Saw one article suggesting removing the drive to fix things, but that's because Intel bored the Sata port drivers in the bios update and it was hanging. Can't hurt to try I guess.
Power supplies themselves are hardware. If the green line of the atx plug is shorted to ground power goes on.
In a motherboard, the process is controlled by software... Reads the momentary on/off button from your case to short out the pins until it gets shut down (again software)
If the bios software isn't running and getting to the point it can Short those lines, then it's a brick
Some motherboards have dedicated hardware flashing ports. But if you lack 5v line probably makes the USB port Unusable.
Maybe you can revert to as n older bio) s and get things working? Some systems have dedicated USB ports that can do it. (Doubt there's a mechanism to flash me if the system isn't running.). Can't hurt to try anyway.
Have you tried pulling the battery and completely unplugging. Sometimes doing that and leaving it unplugged for 5-10 minutes can get the settings to clear when a board is being stubborn.
If it won't even boot up at all it could be something is shorting out, like a screw behind the board, etc.
Maybe it was just a defective board that didn't become clear until after the BIOS update?
