Bill you need to buy a new card. Come on you can afford it. As Nike says Just Do it.

I could have bought an Xbox series X today but it was all access so I would have to pay every month and couldn't pay it off early. Meh. Is it really better than my Xbone X? Staying with my PC set up. Much better.

i don't pay over 5% to 10% over MSRP ever .
not paying 2 or 3 times MSRP

i can wait the 3080 strix is only 30% faster than my 2080 ti strix the 3080 ti strix will be 40% most likely and have the mining block if they don't over price it then maybe

if not i can wait till Q4 to Q1 for the mcm 7800 XT

So Q4 2022 to Q1 2023 a pretty long time to wait.

Sony's CFO told Blomberg he expects PS5 shortages to last well into 2022 and Biden administration is leaning heavily on TSMC to move silicon production to car manufactures to save American jobs. TSMC ain't going to say no to that.

Cars dont use high end nodes for their silicon needs. Asking TSMC to move more of their production to cars probably means less for IOT in the older nodes.

Yeah, no car I know of uses a 5nm node.

Highly doubt Tesla are using 5nm chips. The cars use crap to make them cheaper.

Aren't these just basic chips to power dashboards, engine management, displays, etc..?

This shortage has affected used car prices as well which sucks.

it's not the nodes it's the allocation of wafers to make the chips. More allocated to cars means less for AMD & Nvidia etc.

Yet we know 7nm fabs are working at max capacity. Wafer allocation from fab to fab isnt an issue afaict. Its just simply that demand is exceeding supply from all fabs by about 30% last I read.

Here's a comment from Nvidia's CFO. This was in December it's worse now.

About 90% of TSMC's fabs are in Taiwan do you think they have a really bad logistical problem moving them from fab to fab?

fab nodes don't mix .
not in the same cleanroom and more than likely not the same building

one fab process will or can contaminate another
hell they have to replace or rebuild all the tooling node to new node every time
at least that is what Intel told us when i worked at the Intel Queencreek fab 42

auto stuff is more than likely on different wafers in a different fab unless something is 7nm

Ya they probably need higher quality silicon for smaller nodes...

ION this might finally gut the current ecoin fad:

https://www.vice.com/en/article/qj8b...medium=social+

Quote:
Elon Musk Says Bitcoin Has ‘Great Cost’ to Environment and Tesla Will No Longer Accept It
"We are concerned about rapidly increasing use of fossil fuels for Bitcoin mining and transactions, especially coal, which has the worst emissions of any fuel."
Let them all fall so we can finally get some gpus at reasonable prices. And by reasonable at this point Im hoping 1000$ at best. Even the chia coin one that uses hard drives is beyond stupid it destroys drives in as little as 2 weeks.

I hope it pops so we don't have to hear any more whining about gpus and network difficulty falls through the floor so we can stack more.

Hovering around 50K this morning. If Elon had sold their holdings that may have been enough to push it off a cliff however that hasn't (yet) happened.

I forgot we are frowned upon for calling out miners on their being annoying and the damage they do to PC gaming .

GPU shortages and environmental damage is okay as long as there is easy money to be had.

Stay relaxed guys, no need to get heated. We are all hoping Cryto ease's off so GPU pricing and availability can return to normal. Thats not controversial, so move along

yes the mining thread is only pro mining only

and it has nothing to do with " Other Graphics Cards and 3D Technologies " other than using them like PSU's and should be down with "Distributed Computing " with folding that it is much more like
