I wished to actually feel that i've ugraded so i wanted something in the 3080 / 6900 performance teritory. Now i realized that a 3070 may have better RTX performance than the 6900xt.The problem is 1440p with RTX is too much for 8gb.The alternative would be to buy a 2080ti that have 11gb but again is only second hand. The new 3070ti with 16gb would be a sweet but if it will 1800$ .... Meh

![]() The increased capacity is something they say just about every generation of late... and they dont say by how much they could squeeze out of TSMC vs its other customers.

![]() Well one way to increase capacity is simply the move to a smaller node where you get more cpus out of every 300mm wafer vs 7nm. But then they usually also increase the transistor count of new cpus so its not a straight up increase from the node change only. I can see more production via more fabs at some point a couple years from now but it takes a long time to get new fabs working.

![]() yeah the bigger help will be node separation of product stacks. as the PC side moves to 6 and 5 nm nodes and the consoles stay on 7nm for now. Also server CPUs typically transition after consumer at this point so that will buy some extra consumer product capacity for 3-6 months.

![]() Ya most recent news is the navi3 will be 6 nm in the control chip and 5nm on the gpu dies making more room on the 5nm node for gpus. Should help with availability. https://wccftech.com/amd-rdna-3-gpu-...ithic-designs/ Quote:

![]() One site said vendors might give up on MSRP entirely next gen... Can you imagine buying a lowly 128 bit mem bus vidcard for what was high end price just a couple years ago...

![]() I think AMD thought that the market don't need those very high end parts so quickly.Who had big money already have a very high end part already. The rest of the population on the other hand either bought a very underperforming gpu at a very high price or they couldn't find it anyway. Assuming that the 7600 series will be priced at around 6600 level then you will have a 6800xt performance at half the price.Huge jump but the catch is the MSRP of the 6800 xt (600 $) is the price for the current 6600 xt.It will feel like you will get a 6800xt at MSRP ... finally ![]() I smell backlash ... People who got a 6800 xt overpriced and it will be halved in value in 2 years will be very pissed.Let alone 6900xt ....

![]() no we are not going down the crazy town hype train. I do not believe the 7600xt will be a 6900xt performance let's not do this hype it up so high when it doesnt meet the hype it is a massive disappointment.

1. The POS in summer will make miners dump gpu's in the second hand market. 2. To combat first option both AMD/Nvidia will need to bring very very intersting products otherwise we will buy from the crashed second hand market. 3. i do feel that AMD releasing 7600 cards series after the POS in Q3 may be intentionally to make people avoid miners gpus and buy new ones.

It is a bit tough to believe (not impossible mind you) considering a 6600XT is only a little bit faster than a 5700XT...... If we base it on the RDNA2 upgrade, then a 7600XT should be similar or better than a 6700XT....which would be a far cry from a 6900XT.

![]() 5120 shaders on a 128 bit bus will be slower than a 6900xt but RT might be faster imo.

I would rather see a a medium (30-40% over 6900xt) bump on the 7900xt well keeping thermals power draw in check in the shift to MCM then bust out to 400+ watt monster that needs to be watercooled just to handle it. which is what I am scared we are going to see.

![]() isn't MCM Chiplets in a GPU a radical shift in design ? Quote:
unless all the specs we have been getting for over a year plus are all BS it better be 85% faster or they should have released a correction a long time ago but i do think it maybe power hungry but not as bad as high lovelace at (30-40% over 6900xt) lovelace will kill it as that is only 15 to 25% over a top end 3090 as high as they say NV is taking the watts Last edited by bill dennison : Feb 8, 2022 at 07:33 PM. |

![]() Theres no way you'll get just 40% above a 6900xt with 3 times the shaders. One guy said theres a reason they called the 6000's navi2x it was 2x navi 1 and navi3x is thus 3x navi 2. That shader count seems to make sense tho I suspect its gonna be used to improve RT so it might be 3x RT and maybe not quite that in raster. Maybe due to mem bottleneck. Hard to see a 256 bit bus feed 3x the shaders in raster at 2.5 to 3ghz.
