Same, just a lack of knowledge on places where to go. I know there ate lots of parks, but I just don't know what's better than your typical outing. I'm off all week so I guess ill search around for a few places.

Same here. I seem to always end up at the same places taking nearly the same pictures. Then I feel like I hit a wall, like I'm not advancing my skills at all. I find that when I go out on the fly I seem to find new places and take photos that break my repetitive comfort zone. If that makes sense.

thanks, i had lens envy when i was there. me and my puny 70-200 2.8 lol

everyone else had 400 and 600mm lens's that were huuuuuuuge lol

and also over 10 grand...

luckily when most people left the one owl flew really close to me, about 30 ft away, image is at 200mm uncropped

so many photogs there due to the fact that apparently they have never captured the courtship and mating on photo/video..
so if both owls fly off together a heard of cars will follow lol

I just tried a few shots and cant achieve the sharpness or having a halo effect around the moon.

Nikon D7000, Sigma 100-300 F4, Sigma 1.4x teleconverter, good tripod and ballhead, corded shutter remote, manual mode (set to f/8, 1/125, ISO100 at 420mm), exposure delay enabled to prevent vibrations from the shutter showing up in the image. It's also windy so that can have an effect. My first couple of images were the sharpest, the rest not so much likely due to the wind.

So basically fairly expensive equipment, the right settings to avoid overexposure (the moon is pretty bright), and a smidgeon of luck/good timing.
