ATI Technologies 19" LCD 5:4 aspect lower?

I'm more or less using the Dragonslayer system in my sig, but someone else has it right now hooked up to a 19" Samsung SyncMaster 940BX LCD monitor whose native resolution is 1280x1024 (5:4 aspect). The writing is too small for them and they want a lower resolution. I can't seem to find any 5:4 options lower than 1280x1024 even when I list all modes. I'd like to see 1080x864 or 960x768, but they are not listed and I have no idea how to edit the registry or something else to bring these up. I'm still using 6.6 drivers from 2006, but I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not. Would upgrading the drivers work at all? Any other ideas? Thank you.

If it is the browser's text that is too small, the action of using Ctrl + the mouse wheel at the same time changes its size.

No, it's pretty much everything. I think I had this monitor on a 4:3 aspect with the old computer and stretched a bit, but I thought I'd try to get it at a 5:4 aspect to fit better this time.

ATI Technologies

Well, it looks like if I have any chance of getting the resolution exact 5:4, then I'll have to go back to VGA on the LCD monitor and I don't want to do that. She likes it at 1024x768, so I'll leave it there. Got it set at 75Hz, but not sure how that works on this 60Hz monitor. If this was my monitor, I'd replace it.

Windows has a text enlarging feature... You can change the text dpi to something more readable.
