![]() So as always I wanted to try things out for myself. So I ended up going from DDR4 3600 CL 16-19-19-39 to DDR4 3600 CL 14-15-15-35. This whole ordeal cost me about 260 smokes shipped to my door. Other option was to spend about 131 bucks to upgrade to 32 GB ram on my son's computer. So I said might as well pay double and get a good kit for myself and throw the older kit in his computer. Amazing results below. CPUZ 658/9802 https://valid.x86.fr/she12l C14 670/9831 https://valid.x86.fr/u2hfaz FH5 - 96 FPS CPU 337 FPS FH5 C14 - 96 FPS CPU 337 FPS FC5 - 97 FPS MIN 54 FC5 C14 - 100 FPS MIN 82 GRBR - 139 FPS GRBR C14 - 139 FPS CBR20 8641 CBR20 C14 8747 CBR23 22269 CBR23 C14 22516 Timespy Total 19010 CPU 14241 C14 Total 19055 C14 CPU 14588 This gets KAC's 100% Authentic waste of money award. ![]() |

![]() You can likely tune that 3600cl14 a lot more than the old kit though.. But hey, we all told you that was a bad call unless you're on Intel |

![]() Like Nunz said this was only worth it to move up to Alder Lake.

![]() Yes of course I will be tuning this. Also may put up the 5900X combo for sale and go Alder Lake if I get a good offer. As I said, I needed to get extra ram for my son’s computer as 16 GB was routinely running red with Windows 11 and miner running 3 cards while playing COD Vanguard. Stutter during mining is gone now. So objective accomplished. |

![]() They can shove that 9C up their ass. Mine already hits 5.15 Gs and the faster ram does nothing for the platform. |

![]() I could've sworn that I updated my post, but must've forgotten to hit save. After days of minor adjustments and corecycler testing I ended up with a negative offset on every core and PPT 180W, although under all core stress testing it maxes out at 153W @1.26x volts according to hwinfo). TDC 99A, and EDC 111. That's my acoustic and thermal limit using this $47 cpu cooler with a 140mm fan at around 1300rpm. Extended stress testing maxed out at 82c, but it never gets above low to mid 70s gaming. CPUZ https://valid.x86.fr/cwvyaq to https://valid.x86.fr/9tcp8g Single-Thread 655 to: 675 Multi-Thread (24T) 9816 to 10074 my r23 went up a just a bit from 21936(single run) to 22319(10minute run). I'm happy with it. I can hear this system, but the relatively quiet msi gtx 1070 G1 Gaming (not EVGA SC) is the loudest part of it. Moral of my story? I still need a video card upgrade that's hopefully not louder. Larger diameter fans ftw I hope? They seem to bug me less. ![]() Last edited by Gregor976 : Jan 29, 2022 at 09:28 PM. Reason: Correction. It's been so long since I upgraded my video card that I forgot the brand. |

![]() FTW cards are the loudest I have experienced compared to Asus, Gigabyte and Palit offerings that I tried. Palit Game Rock is the quietest. Asus TUF is quiet when not mining. EVGA is never quiet. |
