Mystic Paul is still being judged by the masses

Default Cat 7.7 (8.39) and Resident Evil 4

It seems that any 8.39 driver (Official Beta and leaked) will slow down the game completely. You can verify this by accessing the map or when Leon is using his two-way radio. The frame rate just chugs making the game unplayable. The only workaround is to use the official 7.6 drivers. I have verified this in XP. I don't know if this affects Vista. Does ATI know about this?

Well, I tested the game with Vista. The performance is fine. It seems to be an XP problem. Oh well...

This also happens with previous drivers versions.
It's a game bug (and there are a lot of other bug
I posted a lot on capcom forums like I was doing simple bug tracking.
Capcom let another companies do the adaptation work and never did quality checking (but even if Capcom did it or did the adaptation we know the result).
Before the patch everything was alright because of no multitexture nor shaders.
The horrible radio communication bug appeared after the patch (new effects).
I was with catalyst 7.4 then 7.5 (and I then it bothered me...) in XPSP2 with a X1950Pro512.

The performance issue does not happen in Vista with Catalyst 7.7. It seems though that Ubisoft is going to release only 1 patch for this game. Oh well...

Vista has better memory management amongst other things which is why it possibly doesnt have this issue.

Not as such, just pointing out that XP has some weakness's and limitations that Vista doesnt have (although theres a few things that XP does better too)

Woo-hoo! The 8.40 leaked driver has fixed the performance problem.
