I went ahead and got the Samsung 49" through AMAZON WAREHOUSE The item was described as like new with damaged packaging. I decided to roll the dice b/c it was $300 off and if I didn't like it I could always return it.

The box arrived and literally looked like it was right out of Sanford & Sons junkyard. I thought I was completely hosed! I opened the box and the monitor didn't even have a fingerprint on it, and the protective plastic wrapping was still around the bezel. I don't think it had ever even been touched, and there were no issues with pixels or anything else!

Maybe Amazon warehouse trolls their customers by putting brand new monitors in the worst boxes they have. Very pleased regardless!

P.S. Interestingly, I like the monitor more w/ freesync off, but it is a great feature!

This is way beyond a regular damaged box. Don't get me wrong, I think it's awesome.. just shocked that a monitor so brand new and untouched can come in a box that was so heavily damaged. You couldn't even tell what the product was it was so beat up! (New boxes have the picture of the monitor on it!) I am starting to think it was some sort of warehouse incident and not a customer return. Didn't have any other shipping labels either.

Run Crysis and Crysis Warhead to completion on highest and hardest at 1440p 8xAA come back if the house didn't go up in flames. and no dips below 60fps, happy birthday rig.

Well, I did try playing Battlefield V with DXR on my GTX 1080 Ti with the latest NVIDIA drivers. Went from 90-100 fps at ultra settings at 1440p down to around 30 fps.

i want to correct you: 1200p 60hz on a photography-specialized monitor with one of the best quality IPS panels. The black and white implementation directly in hardware is gorgeous and intersting to play

No, just no…I want colors, vivid and fairly accurate, no tearing or flickering, pixel density….lots and lots of pixel density…I want all the graphical goodness my poor little midranges rig can deliver, until I can get more than mid range and then I’ll want even more.

I did buy that monitor (Benq sw240) for that.The pixel density is at its best.It's a photography specialized monitor after all.The hardware black and white mode was just an unexpected bonus.There is still a part of me that misses that photography monitor.
