![]() I think here is fine. My Quest 2 doesn't get a lot of regular use, but I'm happy with it nonetheless. Really something for lazy days with lots of free time and energy. Most days (workdays especially), I just want to sit down and use a controller for my gaming time. Looking to get into those Star Wars Darth Vader episodes - they seem to be very well-received. (That immediately tells you something about how far behind I am on anything VR-related.)

/not at all jealous that exclusives come to the VR equivalent of a cardboard city, while her suburban detached family house Valve Index gathers dust because of things like there being no RE4 VR. Nope. No. ![]() It's like there are two gaming industries, one for most games, and one for VR. The latter contains more indie developers, while the former refuses to acknowledge the existence of VR, mostly (apart from the odd project or experiment). There's very little intersection, so you get AAA releases like Dark Souls, and in VR you get a comedy sandbox jaunt where you can wave a sword about a bit.

![]() Finally started Medal of Honor on Quest2. Played through the first couple levels. Overall I'm really enjoying this game. Gun play is remarkably smooth, for how much stuff is going on and variety of weaponry. Each weapon feels and behaves distinctly differently, in a good way. Performance is reasonably good. Some of the dialog scenes seem to run at half framerate, but the action feels pretty smooth. I've heard mixed reviews about the graphics. Actually I think it looks surprisingly good. Character models are detailed and expressive. Interior environments are properly detailed. Texture resolution is good, for a mobile game. I'm installing it on my PC and will try over Virtual Desktop, looking forward to seeing the enhanced PC graphics. The larger outdoor levels do make some graphical sacrifices, and can look pretty dated, so I understand that complaint. Also, the game doesn't seem to run any anti-aliasing... I think that's the area that could make the biggest improvement. Overall very impressive game though. ---- edit ----- I tried out the PC version. Of course it has better graphics. Also stutters alot on my pc. Much higher resolution makes it alot easier to snipe enemies. The large outdoor levels are WAAAAAY better on PC. The Quest version in comparison, basically removes ALL foliage, and honestly the levels are janky and don't make much sense until I saw them on PC. It is quite a massive difference, on those levels.

![]() I just bought the bundle. Thanks Seyiji! ------------- I also bought the 2 mystery steam games for $2. Got Soul Reaver 2 and Smoke and Sacrifice. Not sure what Smoke and Sacrifice is, but Soul Reaver's cool.

![]() So it looks like you can't redeem these keys through the oculus app. Instead you have to do it through the website. Go to oculus.com, sign in with your account. Then click on your profile in the upper-right, click on "orders", then click on "redeem code". The Zero Caliber coupon must be redeemed on the Fanatical website (not oculus). Then you can purchase the game at the discount, then they'll give you a key you can redeem on the oculus website.

![]() Ultrawings 2 Great game, improves on the first in many ways. Graphically it's a bit more detailed, the Quest version is much more like PC version of the first game, feeling much more solid than the old Quest version did, and includes all the little interactions like picking things up, tablet stuff, etc. Also feels like it has more variety, with missions on different times of day, etc. The game-feel is spot-on. One thing I appreciated is that they give you access to something like a real airplane almost immediately. You start out in a gyrocopter, but you earn a really decent airplane within 30 minutes or so. The first game has you spend alot more time on the gyrocopter thing, and then puts you in an experimental rocket plane, before giving you a standard plane... it's refreshing for the sequel to get you flying something expected so quickly. Also, they add in some air combat missions, which is cool too. |

![]() Overall the showcase was a little bit disappointing. Lots of sequels & expansions:
Stuff that doesn't really need to exist:
A few standouts that look interesting:
------ What I would want to see:
One big limitation for the Quest is it's lack of peripheral support. VR is great for driving & flying sims. There needs to be bluetooth driving wheels, or maybe someone could sell a little wifi USB-over-IP box? Or else you could do what this guy did, and just plug a wired HOTAS into the port on the Quest: I spent a ton of time in UltraWings 2 this year. First time I've gotten 100% completion in any game in many years. Somehow learning to fly planes and helicopters just feels more productive to me than shooting zombies. I saw that there's a sailing game on Quest, I might try next, as I've always wanted to learn to sail.
