![]() I trying to determine why my CD writer is giving me errors nowadays. It seems to occur since I installed a second 7200 rpm HDD, so I wonder if my 300 W Enermax PSU is too weak for my comp. Now if I knew how much power a 9700 is using, I could calculate my computer's total wattage need, and the wattages for the individual rails... can anybond help? Thanks a lot. P.S. I have a single case fan and the system described in my sig. Overclocked P4, 2 HDDs, a sound card, a PCI modem card, a network card. One CD-RW drive.

![]() One thing to try is lowering your overclock, as the stability of the OC is going to be affected whenever you change components (and therefore the power draw). Power consumption per transistor increases as the square of the clock, BTW. |

![]() don't forget to roll up the amps used per rail (3.3v, 5v, and 12v) and compare it to the sustainable amperage deliverable by your PS. Wattage is one thing, u may have enuff, but if your PS is only capable of giving you 12A (for example only) on the 12v rail....you can still have trouble. |

![]() Thanks for the replies. I will definitely set the CPU back to default the next time I write a CD. However, can anyone tell me the actual power consumption of a Radeon 9700?
