I think you're completely right, and I apologize to anyone I offended. After having to work all day, pretty much wasting my entire weekend, I wasn't exactly in the best of moods when I first logged on to good ol' Rage. Even news as big as this wasn't enough to cheer me up.

Those screenshots remind me how good blizzard is at doing a whole lot more with much less resources graphically. I was a bit worried that they couldn't pull off the style of the previous Diablo's seeing that a lot of the original team left.

Blizzard was NEVER about redesigning genres, or being revolutionary.
They themselves repeat this fact often.

They have always said that they merely try to take existing ideas and polish/perfect them into top notch gameplay.

If anything, I'm rather disappointed with their timeframe of announcing games 2 years before they release them. I'd rather they announce it maybe maybe 4-5 months before release.

Still using that painted semi cartoonish style on textures as WOW does.
Not a bad thing, think it looks really nice.
Going for realistic graphics is all good and well, but it DOESNT look real, even crysis is pretty far from photoreal.
So going with a defined art style is IMO often a good choice, slap some AA on to get it smooth and nice and it looks really good.. Like TF2 for example, or StarCraft 2 for that matter.

Looks amazing from that 20 min gameplay video. Graphically it's not that advanced, but i think it looks better than the plastic bump mapped look of a lo tof new games.

They can take all the time they want to develop the game as long as when it is released it isn't a pile of crap. I am pretty sick of paying to beta test games and then having developers drop support for them. Take the time you need, make it good and let me pay to enjoy your game for a long time, that is my philosophy.

I firmly believe that most of the talent went to ArenaNet and made Guild Wars. A lot of the cool ideas went to Flagship studios and thats why their game started as a buggy pos.

I wonder how they will do a MP PVP game where one guy will have 1920x1200 while other only 1280x1024, if they limit it guy with lower res that he will be unable to join a guy with higher visible area.

I never played Diablo or Diablo 2. I watched a lot of D2 being played by friends and I must say, it looks flat out boring and mindless.

I think I'll pick this up just to see, but I'm not certain I'll like it.

I believe the issue would be that the guy with 1920x1200 would be able to shoot/use spells on the 1280x1024 guy, without the 1280x1024 guy even being able to see him.

But then, in Diablo 2 you could choose between 800x600 and 640x480, so there really is no issue.

Yeah, but compare 800x600 to 1920x1200 well thats the difference.
Cartigan : well it could matter, that i would do pvp and they suddenly my resolution would be lowered, because of someone is using lower resolution, i just wonder how they will solve this, since it clearly advantage for me vs 19" LCD guy

this isn't 2d, higher resolutions are not going to be zoomed out then lower resolutions, 3d camera will remain the same size.

Cowzrul Dazed and Confused Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: Redneck Country Posts: 11,799	I believe the issue would be that the guy with 1920x1200 would be able to shoot/use spells on the 1280x1024 guy, without the 1280x1024 guy even being able to see him. But then, in Diablo 2 you could choose between 800x600 and 640x480, so there really is no issue.
