Default Amazon.com :\

They really need to specify shipping carriers when people place orders.
I ordered a cable modem and some surge protectors for my mom because a lightning strike next to her house killed almost every electronic in the house (the fridge, computer, air conditioner, coffee pot, and a fan still work, but she lost her washer and dryer, tv, dvd player, clocks, phone, and other things).

I also got band of brothers on blu ray

Anyway, I procede to checkout and look for the 'UPS' or 'FedEx' button, like on newegg, but there is none :/ Because she lives in a rural area the US Mail does not deliver to her house, she gets a post office box, but all the major delivery companies do deliver there, so I like to choose them.

I get to choose from super saver, standard delivery, two day, and one day. I guessed and hit 'standard' thinking that super saver was USPS and standard mail was one of the major delvier companies. I put in her street address and it gave an estimated delivery date of the 20th.

I then get an email two days later (i. e. 15 minutes ago) that it will be delviered via USPS on the 23rd.

Damnit.

If a lighting strikes your power lines, no surge protector will save you.

Right now I am chatting with a monk who is sitting naked in an ice storm on his towel, his only possesion. He's using ipv6.

Were the electronic items sold by Amazon or were they sold by someone else (Amazon marketplace)? If they were sold by Amazon they will always use UPS unless you choose super-saver shipping. If they were sold by someone else on Amazon you should check that store's shipping policies.

She lives in an area so rural that the US Mail won't deliver, but the area is wired for cable modem service?
