Default Cloud versions of games

Anyone ever try cloud versions of games? Normally these goes to weaker systems so im not sure if PS4 or 5 has anything cloud based.

Being a Switch owner, we do start to see some of the heavier hitting titles (Kingdom hearts collection just got announced due to the final smash bros character being sora) except....they're cloud versions.

Switch already got cloud versions of Hitman3 and Control....i was just wondering how well these run (or anything on say Stadia and other platforms that have cloud versions). if theres any lag and all that.

Im more curious as i'd rather play games natively than internet cloud based (My PC can handle the heavy hitting games, as long as its available)

There's playstation now. I think it's about $10US per month. Some titles can be downloaded, but most are streamed.

https://www.playstation.com/en-us/ps...E&gclsrc=aw.ds

I haven't used it, primarily because I own (or want to play) so few games, but variety is the # con I've heard mentioned about it. Can't comment as to the quality...

I've only tried the microsoft solution, the input lag was decent, but the IQ simply wasn't there.

**** looked like a badly encoded youtube vid.

I have used Nvidia's solution with a Razor Kishi controller on my phone and thought it was great. So far I have played AC: Valhalla, Cyberpunk and Death Stranding that way and all looked and played great.

I've used/tried many of these services over the years... they are... better than they where.

OnLive - Surprising decent. This was like Gen 1 of this tech. I got a free console while attending PAX Prime one year. It had noticeable lag, but you got used to it pretty quickly. Surprised how well it worked given how early the tech was and how far away the servers where. Plenty of macro blocking, but this was super early tech.

PS Now - Tried back on PS3 and it was OK. There was noticeable lag, but for most games it was very playable. I hear the lag is lower now as there are more servers and of course the video is way nicer.

AMD Link - Tried this early on and it was kinda awesome. But my 4690k & Radeon 260X at the time didn't really like doing it. So it was kinda blocky, but responsive. I haven't tried it since though, probably better now.

Microsoft Xbox Cloud Gaming - I just tried because of this thread on my S9+, on Wi-Fi with my Razer Raiju Mobile controller wired. I'll be using this more often. I was playing Ori and it looked great on my S9+ and was pretty damn responsive.

My advice, find out how close Nintendo's servers are. The farther away they are, the higher the lag will be.

Sort of in the realm of this topic, but games that you purchased under an account (not Playstation), can't be used on multi-platforms?

For instance, I just picked up a PS5. I downloaded Warzone, logged in with my Battle.net account and started playing it. All is good. Well, I own Modern Warfare too that I have been playing on PC for a bit, but even logged in under my Battle.net account I cannot play it I have to purchase it again? What kind of bullshit is that?

My last console I owned was a PS3 and I didn't play on it very much when I had it. I was surely hoping that owning games on one platform at least where I needed a login would be no issue, but I guess we haven't come that far?

The only one that really allows you to do it to a certain extent is Microsoft and Xbox Live since whatever is available on Xbox is usually available on PC

Nintendo is its own platform.
Sony is its own platform.

Oviously they're all competitors and unless they can agree to come to terms with some kind of universal account that isnt platform specific and allows a purchase per game rather than game platform...it'll never happen.

Yeah, I suppose... I was just assuming too much since you had to log into the account and that game is also tied to it. Moving forward though, I will be making sure I keep games I want to play on PS5 separate from games I will play on PC.

OH...no i didnt.
I was more interested in people's opinions on cloud gaming.
Its not for me, and the only time i ever tried any kind of cloud like gaming was when gave Steam play or whatever its called a try.

I ran doom 2016 streamed to my crapass laptop with the PC running the game and well...it worked and i thought it was pretty wicked to see.
But it was somewhat laggy (responsiveness was kind of slow) and the visual was kind of blurry and there was some ghosting. I did it mainly as a test to see if i can do this to play some games on the TV rather than build a small PC to run the games natively.

Responsiveness would be the key factor in trying any cloud gaming but you'd need very low latency and fast internet. I dont think my internet is fast enough to provide an adequate streaming experience.

All Halo games except Halo 5 are available on PC. With Halo Infinite close to release, I still wanted to play Halo 5. And it's actually available on PC, through the Xbox Game Pass streaming service.

I managed to finish the game, but all the usual streaming issues were there throughout the game. Image quality was doable, but not good; input lag was doable, but not good; stability was doable, but not good. If there is technical room for improvement, I could see this being a viable option for a lot of people. As it stands, it's only something I'd consider if there's no other option available.
