Default Psu

I am in the market for a new PSU and I am suck on what I want to buy. I have read and have came down to the following two PSU's

ENERMAX Noisetaker AX ATX12V Ver 2.0 485W
OCZ PowerStream 520W
My system specs are:
AMD 3500+ oced to 2.45
MSI Neo K8n
Liteon DVD rom
Sata 80gig WD
Gig of ram TCCD
ATI X800xt.
I am looking into new PSUs for the following reason I hit the wall kind of low on my Chip. I HAD a 6800gt card that wouldnt run for nothing on this system, and now my X800xt is having issues. I just put this mobo and chip in and had the same VC problem on my older setup. Chaintek 250 on a 3400+ mobile. I have already replaced my HD only thing that is the same is the PSU and Rom. I just want to get people take on those two PSU's. I currently have a 410 PC P&C silent PSU that I am about to put up for sale.

Wattage is only the half of the story nowadays, I would go for whichever has the most amperage on the 12V line, or better still if one of them has dual 12V lines (i think the enermax does) then go for that one as the output will be more stable.

I got that exact Enermax for Christmas...DOA! So i cannot recommend it. I bought a Fortron Source (Sparkle) and it does just fine.

I recently bought the OCZ 520W Modstream. I found one problem with a cable pins not being formed round and closed. These were malformed and would not stay on the device. I contacted OCZ support they fedex'd a replacement to me before mine was even sent from the house. I exchanged from their package all the cables I needed and sent the unit back to them. That is what I call service. This unit has a 3 yr warranty. I would buy another without hesitation. Not only is it extremely quiet but so far very reliable.

Given my Enermax 550Watt just died after barely 2 years of what I would call only moderate powerloading at best, I'd go with anything but Enermax.

OCZ Powerstream is by far the highest quality PSU I have ever been in contact with. I'm very happy with mine.

I've heard good things about the OCZ PSUs, but haven't used one personally. Still prefer Antec True series PSUs.

bigty,

let me know how the new power supply goes. my x800xt isn't going as high as other peoples and my 3400 mobile isn't either and it could very well be a power supply problem because my computer is filled with components to the brim. i would love to see if it fixes your problems.

Good choice. If I were in the market for a new PSU I'd go with that model or a PC Power & Cooling 510W.

Seasonic makes the quietest and most efficient actively cooled PSU's in the industry.

My last Enermax had unstable rails and quit just after the warranty expired so I'm not going to recommend them.

One word though.... 'TAGAN'

Its all about using quality components. Its knowing what components are good and those that are bad (look at the mobo capacitor problem 'no problem with Sanyo )

When my Tagan dies I can use the heat-sinks as a door-stop. The Germans have made a right PSU!!

You should not be disappointed with PowerStream. It is by far the most quality PSU out there, with a possible exception of PCP&C.

in a word craptacular . 2.45 max Oc atm. Im debating on max FSB vs max timings. 2.3 3.6 vs 2.5 3 3 10 ok shutting down now installing the PSU

Update the PSU is great its ALOT quieter than my PC P & C BUT I still cuk on my OC for my VC.

Ok the Videocard OC went like I thought it would CRAPTACULAR.
