Default Games Finished in March 2019

Thought about doing this series to kind of assist people and motivate them to finish their backlogs. As many have seen, I have completed a lot of games last year and still managed to do my hobbies, take care of family, career going strong and travel a lot.

Not every month someone will be finishing a lot, as there are months where a person just can't finish anything. Then you got that streak going in another month.

Also, if you plan to replay the game, it is fine but don't repeat it at a later month as first completion is what counts.

Another thing is the criteria of what is considered completed in unclear games such as team based multiplayer games; I would say set a target for that. E.g. I considered Overwatch completed when I reached level 100. Or when I finished story mode (which was a long movie sequence) in Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator. You decide what you consider is completed as long as it is reasonable to a certain extend and correlate-able to a single player experience.

DLC completed at a separate time from the main game and has enough content (+1 hour) can be counted as a separate completion.

Console completions can be accepted as long as the main focus is still PC overall.

Completed Games:
529-Dead or Alive 6
530-Yakuza 0
531-Metro Exodus
532-Devil May Cry 5

Sorry for the delay guys. Was on vacation during the last days of March and until yesterday.

For me, mainly solid completions with hardly any short games. Even DoA6 was quite lengthy for a fighting game

529-Dead or Alive 6: Great fighting game. Slightly improved upon DoA5. Despite smaller roster and hardly any graphical improvements, the gameplay got refined.

530-Yakuza 0: My first entry into the franchise. Solid game and a good place to start for anyone new to the game. It is quite lengthy without the side stuff. Great story, if you don't mind the Japanese, over the top, elements.

531-Metro Exodus: This game improves upon the first two considerably while slightly losing a tad bit on the directed on rails elements which was a staple for the franchise. Overall a better game. Graphics are impressive even without RTX. Overall, I enjoyed doing everything in this game. I got it on Epic Store for $30 with Season Pass as part of regional pricing. Only reason that I caved in to that store.

532-Devil May Cry 5: They just game the fans everything they wanted! Great graphics, great music, great style, great gameplay and so on. Despite finishing it once, I can easily see myself returning to this many many times as I refine my combos and style. I feel I barely touched the surface.

I don't expect to have a long list of completions as games in my backlog are quite lengthy. Still, I am having a blast and 2019 has been delivering!

Seven this month. A few very short but some more substantial ones too;

Ass. Creed Chronicles China, Star Wars Battlefront II SP, Angry Birds VR, Call of the Starseed, Heart of the Emberstone, Middle Earth Shadow of War and Metal Gear Solid V.

10 games.

Gear of War 4: I never played a Gears game before, I know some of the background plot because I saw some videos about the game before. It is a technically impressive game, I liked the reload mechanic. I liked it for what the game is, at least I didn't feel rushed to me as far as the pacing and the plot evolved.
Battlefield 1 SP: Cool concept of having several war stories, solid gameplay, amazing graphics as always. One thing that was annoying was the sound bug I had, The music sort of stops and then resumes, some of the sounds disappear then return. I looked everywhere for a fix and apparently it never got fixed. Shame on DICE for it.
Star Wars: Battlefront 2 SP: Graphics are really good, gameplay is good too. I just think the character of Iden Version could have been better used, but it was ok for what the game offered. I wonder if there will ever be a Kotor again in terms of plot.
A.R.E.S. Extinction Agenda EX: Platformer game. I played the old version when it was released, this version really has improved the animation and gameplay. Not an amazing game, but entertaining.
Beholder: So, in this game you are hired as a janitor (or something close to it) for a building. But you are an employee of a dictatorship. So, you have to spy, blackmail, get people arrested, while you try to take care of your family safety. It is a tough game to play for the first time. I liked it, but it was tiresome to me.
Candle: Very nice art style for this adventure game.
F.E.A.R.: Just as good as I remember it from when I first played it. The graphics are not that impressive anymore, but the gameplay still holds up. I decide to play it again because I'm playing the expansion packs released for it and the next two games (didn't finish yet).
Rage: What a letdown, the game ended abruptly. I expected more from the game. The gun gameplay is good. The races were so boring though, I don't understand what people saw to keep saying the races were cool when the game was released.
Type:Rider: So, in this game you play as two dots (..), it is a platformer, sort of. You run around the maps searching for the letters of the alphabet and collecting information about the font type that the map represents. It is a very interesting game with some background information about the development of the fonts we use today. I enjoyed it. And there is a secret level, the Comic Sans, very hard and funny level. Thanks again to John C Flett that gave me the key for this game.
ZombieZoid® Zenith: I got this game for free from some promotion, I don't remember. This game is bad, just stay away from it.

I feel like I should have zero in April because that would fit the pattern I am seeing with my numbers

Five for me, which is a record for one month:

* Star Wars: Battlefront 2. I enjoyed the trial a while back, and now that it's available in the Origin Access Basic subscription I finished the campaign. Good fun.
* Star Wars: Battlefront 2: Resurrection. A bit of DLC tacked on to the main game. Since the main game ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, this felt like it should perhaps have been part of the game already.
* Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. The remastered version for PS4 is great, despite the original game's age. Everything felt improved over the first game.
* Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception. More of the same, with - I think - more combat and a few more special effects. Storywise, I liked the exploration of the triangle relationship between Drake, Elena and treasure.
* What remains of Edith Finch. Fascinating tale, picked it up for free on the Epic Store. So far I think my account holds four or five games, none of which I paid for. Epic will get me to pay for something eventually, but today is not that day.

Hope you had a good vacation MNB, we missed you!
