Rumor: Intel Readying 2.8GHz Core i5-760
According to a story on XFastest, the world's biggest chipmaker is prepping a successor to the $196 Core i5-750, its cheapest quad-core Nehalem processor.
Citing nebulous "Intel sources," XFastest calls this successor the Core i5-760, and it cites a 2.8GHz clock speed and a BX80605I5760 model number for the retail-boxed offering. (We're not seeing any premature e-tail listings yet, believe it or not.) Intel will reportedly base the i5-760 on the same stepping as the i5-750, so overclocking potential and other factors might not be too different.
