The starting price is much lower than I anticipated. The higher trims are about what I expected though in pricing.

The thing I wonder about EV and Bidens plan to create new charging stations. Will there be a standard charge port going forward. That would go a long way in increasing their use IMO. Something that will allow any make to charge at full speed.

Yeah WTF theres so many different charging ports....and they're not compatible?

Tesla has its own, the charging infrastructure is usually its own, and some EV manufacturers use their own.....

So I guess no one is going to go on trips across the country any longer when this whole electric thing comes to pass. So you come up with charging stations! You have to waste an hour or more filling it up?

Or we can discuss what we like and dislike in a discussion board like this, and that's okay.

The dynamic changes when you go electric. So in a regular scenario of City/town driving, to and from work, mall/shopping etc etc the idea is you charge where you have gone to. So the car is always plugged in wherever you park.

In the scenario of a cross country trek. You would be charging every 300ish miles with this F150. So when you stop for a rest, grab a bite, hotel for the night etc etc etc you charge. It's just a different dynamic than an a gas powered car. It won't take that long to get this all sorted out really, as electric continues to became the norm and more places put in car charge ports.(or a 240volt outlet to connect to)

Until this happens I can't see myself buying an EV, as attractive as some might be. We do too many road trips to wait at a charging station...assuming we can find one we can use.

Moot point anyway. It is literally impossible for me to buy a Ford.

300 miles isn't a lot to anyone that's traveled cross country though. I'm not willing to add a day or 2 to the trip time due to having to charge overnight.

The other problem is that at this time you have to plan you trips where there are charging stations.

So say you make a trip somewhere and you want to take your usual route but theres no charging stations, now you have to go find the route that has charging stations that might extend the time becuase its the longer way and then you also have to wait at least 15mins on the very fastest chargers (if its even available) which doesnt even charge the battery to full (maybe lik 75-80% or so?)

You also can't really make any on-the-fly detours unless you're comfortable that you'll be able to reach an EV station if you need to.

You might want to get to your destination asap (which an EV doesnt really allow it cuz you might have to make frequent stops to charge and/or you have to stay overnight somewhere because you've added hours to your trip just to accomodate charging times)

I dont know if range anxiety is a thing anymore but the inconvenience of all that extra time you HAVE to add might not be ideal.

I for one will jump on EV's when the time comes (no now) and if and when the charging infrastructure is at an adequate level in my province (which...well...sucks right now)

You are 100% not wrong. You wouldn't necessarily need to charge overnight though, just using that as an example of a standard point you would stop and charge.

Full electrics seem to work great for 75 miles or less round-trip work commutes. Beyond that, I think Hybrid is the way to go. The mix of motor and electric, imo, is the best way moving forward. The full battery stuff just doesn't seem feasible and the massive batteries it takes is also becoming, as we see coming out of the news of late, detrimental to the environment.

300 miles range, if you are towing expect half of that which isn't very far. This works if you work and operate mostly locally. Forget any long distance towing, buy the diesel for that.

I've done so much cross country over the years it's hard to think in anything but full trip terms

I would love to see it become fully viable for all scenarios though. And we're closer now than we were a few years ago ...

I drove cross-country a lot when I was in the Navy, would drive from Washington state to Texas, even drove from Georgia to Washington state once (in a very comfy but uneconomical GMC Vandura conversion van), I found I'd rather not do it in a large vehicle if I can help it. Far prefer driving cross country in something economical, if interior comfort is equal. I'd never want to drive a pickup cross country unless I needed to tow a trailer for whatever reason, and even then, I moved from Washington back to Texas in 2006 with a Uhaul trailer and a tiny Toyota pickup.

Back and forth from MA to Del Rio, TX or Oak Island NC were my most common trips. I don't think I would mind a pickup for the trip these days....the new models have some really comfortable rides...well, the Rams and F 150s do. Can't speak for the GMC line up...

Oak Island is my favorite beach to visit. We typically go there for a week every year.

My RAM is stupid comfortable, and will get around 22-24 on the highway depending on how fast I'm going. Not great, but a lot better than the Tundra got.

I really wouldn't mind an EV for normal around town stuff at all. Could always just rent a car for long trips I suppose.

If I remember the post correctly, your Ram is about 40k more than I want to spend too Yeah they're a beautiful truck, which brings up the other issue I would have with the Lightening...it's looks. I think it's ugly.

Ford Raptors and Ram styling, especially the TRX and Rebels, pretty much ruined every other truck for me.

If my wife wouldn't murder me, I would have a TRX.

I agree on the new Ford and Chevy trucks. They don't appeal to me in most stock trims, but if you throw some wheels/tires/running bars on them, they aren't bad.

Well the range is only 300 miles tops, when you tow or haul that's going to get cut in half. These are DOA I think other than folks that want a city truck that's fast.

Now if they give the infotainment center the KIT voice, and let me strobe that giant ass light bar up front red... I may bite.

Oh **** you ordered one? I can't wait to see the production models. Curious to see what all they change. I would drive the **** out of one of those. Also, as with the f150. Give it the KIT voice, and let me strobe the light bar up front. SOLD.

They would make great fleet vehicles that you could easily charge onsite while doing work and back at you company HQ. Plus it's simpler than keeping a supply of diesel or gas for such vehicles and it will be cheaper.
