Default CPU RAM OC PErformance Gains??

I have a Dell 8200 (see specs below)

If I replaced my mobo so that I could OC the RAM, what kind of performance gains can you get???

I have never OCed a CPU or RAM before so I am curious.

Thx....

from what ive heard almost every dell comes with crappy cl3 ram since it helps the price stay low and price isthe only thing most dell customers care about, besides the cpu mhz rating. the motherboard selection probably works much in the same way. it would be the first thing id replace.

Seeing as how Dell uses to the cheapest crappiest stuff you can find, I would say you'd get very little performance gain. The CPU could be OCed with a new mobo but the RAM is most likely really cheap and crappy and probably would not be able to maintain higher speeds than what it's rated at. Simply enough, if you ever want to overclock, custom buy the parts yourself. With OEMs, you never know the quality or consistency of the crap they use.

I think the parts that Dell, Compaq have used in the past have been crap but the two Dells I have owned have both come with high end parts ex. mine came with a WD 80GB Cavier SE and Samsung RAM

Samsung must give big discounts for OEM,s because my e-machines computer at work also has samsung ram which turned out to be more stable than my micron ram that I use in my celeron 400.....
